SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available.

You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Global requests

Two options exist for requesting renames

  1. Use the (new) request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Utilise the manual process outlined above, and submitted below in this section.

Please add new requests at the end of the section. Sections should be titled your username@global if you wish to be globally renamed.

To allow us to merge your accounts once AccountMerge is deployed, please access en:Special:MergeAccount while logged into your Aharon account to create a global account. I've completed the form on en:Special:MergeAccount to create a global account. There appear to be a number of other accounts named 'Aharon' on other wikimedia sites. These are not mine. Geachte Pelikana, na het te hebben besproken met andere stewards, en aangezien nu beide accounts op en.wiki van jou zijn en je ook bovendien één bewerking hebt op nl.wiki met Pepelikana, lijkt het ons het verstandigst om te wachten op de activering van de Account-merge-tool. Hiermee zal het mogelijk worden andere accounts onder één naam samen te voegen. De verwachting is dat deze tool in de komende maand beschikbaar wordt.

I have requested to change (Usurpation) my username from روخو to khaled at https://ar.wikipedia.org and it was done successfully in February 13, 2013 15:51. recently I have noticed that my new user name (khaled) does not work at all Wikimedia foundation projects, such as commons.wikimedia.org, ar.wiktionary.org, ar.wikinews.org... Please notice that I have contribution at the previous mentioned projects and I want them to be under my new name. I have asked some administrators at ar.wikipedia.org and they advised me to make request here. I want to have all my contributions at all Wikimedia projects to be under my new name (Khaled) and want to have one user (unified login) mane to access all the different Wikimedia projects. I have usurped all "Khaled" accounts without any live edits, so you should be able to edit all projects except de.wiki and fi.wiki with your "Khaled" account. I suggest you wait for SUL finalisation and the deployment of AccountMerge to merge these two. I have usurped all accounts with 0 edits. Usurping accounts with edits requires a previous notification. I have informed both Xabier@euwiki and Xabier@commons. @Revi: Please consider this a migration. Russavia was in dialogue with a number of off-wiki forums about future donations to Commons, this bot was a part of that task. No doubt other bots, such as Faebot may be able to take over some of the tasks, it will be my judgement call alone as to which ought to best be closed out by RussaviaBot. Closing everything down overnight smacks a bit too uncomfortably of damnatio memoriae, which seems inappropriate considering the years of positive content contributions by this user, regardless of other events or disputes. --Fæ (talk) 11:16, 17 January 2015 (UTC)reply

  • Comment Comment I think that it would be confusing to have a "RussaviaBot" account operated by Fæ as the user name suggests that the bot is operated by someone other than Fæ.     In light of the issue and the circumstance I would think that another bot would be ill-advised to replace RussaviaBot at the same name. As the bot was only active in Commons, I think that Commons can resolve this issue, and the name is not generic for a role, it is aligned with a user. To note that when the global merge tool is available then you can probably request that it can be merged back. You could use the template {{Przejmowanie - informacja}} to inform the user about usurp attempt. But this account does not qualify for usurpation under local pl.wiki rules as the last edit was on December 10th, 2014. masti <dyskusja> 14:11, 27 January 2015 (UTC)reply
