I don’t think this justifies usurpation, as usurpation is normally used to allow established users to rename their own account to an occupied username. An alternative solution is to copy that filter to a private test wiki, grant yourself override-antispoof, and test it there. 1F616EMO (on zhwiki) 04:55, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
Not done @Daniel Quinlan, per standard procedure target account must be notified by renamer at least two weeks before usurpation. I suggest creating the account with a similar username first, then requesting the usurpation here. @Tanbiruzzaman: Yep! You're probably right, even if in this case they explicitly said "for security reasons I'd like to usurp my old name", so the request seems clear enough to me. In any case, I proceeded to revert the rename, but I have no intention of proceeding further in case of further regrets by the same user.
@Da Vinte: I'd ask you to carefully read the guidelines in the future before proceeding with similar requests, and, regarding security, I strongly suggest you to enable 2FA (if you're not able to, please request 2FA-tester flag here). Hmm... not exactly usurpation, but "Bad apple" did not pass the similarity flowchart (having 15 edits, just above the limit). It makes no sense to deny this request just because it is not an exact match to an existing non-antispoof-overridable account, but it is also not good to pass it right away without asking "Bad apple."
