I hope you are doing well. This username has been inactive for more than 15 years and has had no activity during this entire period. Given such a long duration of inactivity, it seems very unlikely that the user will return, and the username has effectively remained unused.

If possible, I kindly request an exceptional review to release this username. Using this username would be very beneficial for me and would greatly support my future contributions to the encyclopedia. If the request cannot be approved, I kindly ask for an explanation of the reason.

I didn't use the account much and forgot the password. I recently wanted to make an article on Wikipisija (tok.wikipedia.org). In order to try to do this, I attempted to create a Wikipisija account with the name "Jan Sikusi" That didn't work because I'd already made a Wiktionary account, and so the name had been reserved on all wikis I tried to recover the account using the normal "forgot password" function, but it turns out that I did not register my old account through the normal means, but it turns out that I did not register it using any email address.

I've emailed the Wikimedia Trust and Safety team on this as well.

One of the moderators of Wikipisija said that I could simply create a new account, and ask to usurp the old account through a name change. Because of that, I am making a request to do so here.

As a side note, I'm the only one using the name "jan sikusi" anywhere. I have kept a website under that name ( https://jan-sikusi.neocities.org/ ) since 2022 (long before I made my wiki account) and I could put something on that website to prove that I am who I say I am. --Sikusi (talk) 20:37, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Just confirming that I did tell Sikusi to pursue this usurpation, speaking more as a global renamer than as a server mod. While the target account does have two edits, there's no reasonable question in my mind that this is the same person; Sikusi has even shown me a screenshot of the reference they used for the two Wiktionary edits they made with the Jan Sikusi account. As such, I think this request should be granted, and I'm not even sure the standard 2-week wait is necessary given that it's the same person, but I'll defer to other renamers on that. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 20:47, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
@Tamzin: Have they provided any strong evidence to confirm the connection? The screenshot of the reference used for the two Wiktionary edits made with that account does not seem convincing to me, though I trust your judgement. If you are confident that they are the same person, there would be no need for a hold period and you can process the request now. If it is not confirmed, we should follow the standard process by applying a hold period and notifying the target user. Since usurpation is intended only for well established users, I would prefer to see at least one month of activity and a minimum of one hundred valid contributions across Wikimedia projects before proceeding, so that we can be confident the username will be put to good use. – DreamRimmer ■ 10:13, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
I am confident, yes. It's a very distinctive screen name, and Sikusi has an established interest in Aramaic that matches the edits of the Jan Sikusi account. The only way this could be a different person is 1) if someone tried to impersonate this Sikusi and did a pretty good job at it and 2) this Sikusi then for some reason decided to lie about that and claim it was them... neither of which seems likely on its own, let alone together. Each time I attempted to choose a new one, I was informed that it had already been taken. I was not aware that a request page like this existed for unused usernames; a Persian Wikipedia administrator kindly directed me here. The username I am requesting is my given name, and having it would be very helpful for my contributions and future work across Wikimedia projects. I can assure you that I will keep this username permanently and will not request further changes.
