Upcoming DCW Conversation Hour on Wikipedia Admin & Patrol Tools

@Musical starlight: That sounds like an excellent discussion. I hope to watch the recording later. By the way, on Template:Main Page/WM News, I reversed the order of two announcements so that the start times are chronological from top to bottom. I would prefer for us not to have DCW Conversation Hour times overlap with Wikimedia Café times, but given Wikimania this month there are scheduling pressures that we don't have in other months. @Pine: Thank you for your interest! The recording will be uploaded, and updates about it will be sent via the mailing list. I also really appreciate you taking the time to reorder the announcements on the Main Page, thank you for catching and fixing that! Regarding August, we haven't received the date and time confirmation from our speaker just yet. @Musical starlight: thanks! By the way, this diff didn't ping me. To create the ping, I believe that the ping template needs to be used in the same diff that includes a signature. Editing speed

Translation to Simplified Chinese is disabled

I want translate Global reminder bot/Messages/default-global but it say Translation to Simplified Chinese is disabled: Translate in zh please. Why? How to translate? Jingjinjij (talk) 15:21, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

@Jingjinjij: There's an automatic conversion system, so translations in different variants of Chinese are typically kept in one page. Take Translations:Main Page/8/zh for example; its source code (also known as wikitext) reads:

'''欢迎来到[[$1|元维基]]'''——为[[$2|维基媒体基金会]]的[[$3|-{zh-hans:项目;zh-hant:專案;}-]]及其相关-{zh-hans:项目;zh-hant:專案;}-进行从协调、文件化到企划及分析的全域社群网站。

When the converter is set to 繁體, 为 is rendered as 為 and so on. The -{zh-hans:项目;zh-hant:專案;}- syntax is for manual conversion.
