2FA Tester for Agowa

I would like to test the 2FA authentication, because it is more convenient than the email code. Sometimes it takes quite long for it to arrive and for security reasons I do not have decryption keys for my mail account accessible on all devices I'd like to log into Wikipedia with. I've read the provided help pages. Thanks, --Agowa (talk) 11:08, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for RaymondLarabie

I am an active contributor to Wikimedia projects and would like to continue constructive editing under my registered account. However, my IP address is affected by a global block that prevents me from logging in and making edits.

I have attempted to request access through the usual channels (Account Creation Interface and related forms), but those forms are also blocked for me, and my email address is not accepted in the ACC wizard. This page is currently the only available route for me to submit a request.

I understand and agree to follow all Wikimedia policies, and I will use this exemption solely for legitimate editing purposes. Thank you for your consideration. RaymondLarabie (talk) 02:00, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Are you trying to get your account attached to the English Wikipedia? — xaosflux Talk 09:45, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
Note: your underlying network is not globally blocked, so this won't be done, but depending what you are trying to solve there may be something that can be done. — xaosflux Talk 10:03, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
Yes, I’m trying to get my account attached to the English Wikipedia so I can create a draft article in my userspace. The issue is that whenever I try to log in there, the auto-creation of my local account fails due to an IP range block. That same block prevents me from using the normal account creation wizard or UTRS, so I keep getting looped back to the “Guide to appealing blocks” without being able to submit an unblock request.
This might be because I live in a large condo building and my ISP uses a shared IP range. I’ve been able to edit on Wikidata without issue, but English Wikipedia won’t let me in to even create the local account, even though I had no problem with that before. I’ve tried all the suggested routes (account creation wizard, appeal links, UTRS, email), but they either won’t accept my username or block my Gmail.
Is there a way to have my English Wikipedia account created manually so I can log in and, if needed, apply for the local IP block exemption afterward?
Thanks for your help. RaymondLarabie (talk) 23:10, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Global IP block exempt for YzmLiyuu

Hello, my Username is YzmLiyuu. I am a logged-in user from mainland China, mainly contributing to the Japanese and Chinese Wikipedias.

Due to internet censorship in mainland China (Great Firewall), I am unable to access Wikimedia projects directly. In order to edit Wikipedia, I have to use proxies or VPN services. I have already been granted IP block exemption (IPBE) on Chinese Wikipedia, and I always edit in good faith.

However, after editing Japanese Wikipedia for a short time, I was globally blocked due to my IP address being within the range 2605:52C0:2::/48, which was blocked by EPIC on 2024-06-17 for "Open proxy/Webhost".

I do not abuse proxies, and I only use them as a necessary tool to access Wikipedia due to regional restrictions. Unfortunately, this global block also prevents me from editing my own user talk page in Japanese Wikipedia , making it impossible to request locally.

Therefore, I would like to kindly request the Global IP Block Exemption (GIPBE) flag for my account so I can continue contributing constructively to Wikimedia projects under my registered account.

Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

My proxies aren't always stable, so I often switch between them. Some have been globally blocked, and others aren't (but should be) blocked at the moment. I mainly edit on the Chinese Wikipedia, where I have local IPBE, so most of the time this doesn’t affect my Wikimedia life. However, when a proxy does get blocked globally, it prevents me from performing certain actions, such as adding a link for a new page. I can try several times to switch one, but I believe having global IPBE would make it easier for me to contribute smoothly. For Each ... Next (talk) 17:08, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Global IP block exemption request for Ebelinda Antigua

Hello, my username is Ebelinda Antigua on Wikidata. I am working on creating and improving entries for my magazine (Ebby Magazine) and its publisher (Ebby Media).

Unfortunately, my IP address is within a globally blocked range due to an automatic filter (open proxy/webhost). I am not using an open proxy or VPN, and I believe this block affects me in error.

Not done The address you just requested this from is not globally blocked (and is also not blocked on wikidatawiki). So it doesn't seem like there is a need for this. From your statement above, it seems you are also possibly running in to issues about undisclosed paid editing / conflict of interest contributions. You should very carefully check in to the policies of any project you want to make such a contribution on to ensure you are not going to get blocked. — xaosflux Talk 22:22, 26 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello Stewards,
I am writing to request Global Rollback permission.
I have been an active editor on multiple Wikimedia projects, with significant experience in combating vandalism. I have been a local rollback user on the Chinese Wikipedia since March 22, 2023, and a patroller since August 26, 2024.
Through my work, I have gained extensive experience in identifying and handling various types of vandalism. I am very familiar with the proper use of the rollback function and am committed to using it solely for reverting clear acts of vandalism, in accordance with the established policies.
I am now also an active user of SWViewer, which further demonstrates my dedication to cross-wiki anti-vandalism efforts. Granting me this permission would allow me to more effectively contribute to protecting the projects from widespread disruption.
Thank you for your consideration.--Evesiesta (talk) 09:35, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

  • This feels like a ChatGPT (or other AI model)'s answer to me. If this is true, please rewrite in your own words (in particular, why tools like TwinkleGlobal won't work for you). If this is not true, state so explicitly. Leaderboard (talk) 10:09, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
Just click those links above to check whether it is true. I believe what I done in Zh-Wiki is visible. Evesiesta (talk) 11:38, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
@Evesiesta As SHB2000 says, we're trying to evaluate your candidacy and this means that it needs to come from your own words. I would have been fine if you wrote your statement in Chinese. The other point is that GR is a role where knowledge of English is required, because you will invariably have to explain your answers, and certainly don't want that to be from an AI model. I am not convinced you meet that bar either, and hence cannot support your application at this time. Leaderboard (talk) 12:38, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

  • Oppose Oppose Limited xwiki activity and AI-generated opening statement. – Phương Linh (T · C · CA · L · B) 10:42, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
I agreed with limited xwiki edition. But why shouldn'd I use AI to write this? Everything I done in local antivandal is real. Evesiesta (talk) 11:36, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
Honest opinion (and I know it's quite harsh, but I don't think sugarcoating it is helpful): Quite frankly using AI comes out as an insult to the community's time. The impression I (and many others) get is that the community is giving its time to assess whether you are worthy of global perms yet you couldn't have the decency to write your own nomination statement. Just my 2c, take this at your will. //shb (tc) 11:42, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. You are right. Writing the statement with AI makes others think that I am nnot serious with the request. Honestly I am just not good at writing these kind of written things. I thought AI would help me express myself better at firtst lol. Obviously it didn't... I will do more xwiki antivandal edition and make sure I have enough expierience. Then I will be back here again. Anyway, I think I am experienced in zh-wiki. So I came here straightly for the global rollback. :) Evesiesta (talk) 11:50, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
FWIW, I don't think many people would have an issue if you directly wrote your statement in Chinese and then use AI to translate that – it might have a few errors, but at least that shows it's come from you directly. :) //shb (tc) 12:17, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
I appreciate your work in zh wiki; however, this is global rollback (meaning rollback on every wiki). If you work is mainly on zh, I think you should apply for rollback there (which you already have and was granted) instead of asking for the global rights, as it is not going to help you much. I suggest doing more cross-wiki patrolling before requesting this again, as it will show other you have a good use for this tool. Thanks, Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 12:20, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello, everyone. I'm relatively active in SWMT work recently. I'm a rollbacker on zhwiki and sysop on zhwikivoyage. I'm using multiple tools like TwinkleGlobal, XReport and SWViewer to do anti-vandalism work. With Global Rollback right, I can do such work more conveniently. I have read the GR policy. No matter this request pass or not, I will continue to do anti-vandalism work in my spare time. Thank you.--Hehua (talk) 14:06, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Requests for global rename permissions

Global rename for 1F616EMO

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I have read through the global rename policy and would like to help in handling rename requests on the Chinese Wikipedia, handle requests written in Chinese, and reject those obviously not meeting the policy. My main focus will be on simple renaming requests, i.e., those not involving usurpation, but I will keep an eye on usurpations and reject what's clearly not going to pass.

Before renaming a user, I will check their block log across all wikis, including active and previous blocks. On wikis where they are active, especially their home wiki, the local administrator's noticeboard will also be checked for major disputes. If major disputes or reasonable blocks existed, it is required by the policy not to take a username that is too distinct from the old one. Their new name will be assessed based on the local policies on their active wikis, checked for possible impersonation attempts by searching the new name in local Village Pumps, and checked for duplications by visiting Special:CentralAuth.

I am a local edit filter manager on my home wiki, the Chinese Wikipedia. I am also a VRT member and am willing to handle requests submitted through email. I want to take this role as an opportunity to familiarize myself with interwiki collaboration further and be more involved in the Wikimedia movement. 1F616EMO (on zhwiki) 05:41, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I have read global rename policy and Global renamers pages. I am administrator of Wikidata, Chinese Wikipedia and Chinese Wikivoyage so I may block some users because they violate local username policy (for now, mostly on Chinese Wikipedia). When they request to change username later, I need to request global renamers to do this. So I want to request global rename permission to do this.

I will mostly deal with requests written with Chinese but still will check their contributions on other wikis. Thank you in advance for consideration. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by S8321414 (talk) 05:32, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Global rename for Oshwah

Hi there! I'm here in order to request reinstatement of the global renamer permissions after a period of inactivity. I typically use the permissions following a block request on en-wiki by users who are blocked for usernames that violate the username policy, but I also reviewed and responded to the list of current requests as well. I became inactive due to life obligations, which became much more prominent due to having a brain tumor discovered and removed via brain surgery (my story and updates can be read here. Warning: the page contains graphic images.) about three months ago. Now that I'm past most of the major ordeals related to my health, I'm here to request the user right back in order to serve the project. My previous request discussion is available here for those who wish to view it. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll be happy to discuss them with you. I want to sincerely thank everyone who reached out to me with their support, thoughts and prayers, kind words, and words of encouragement during my excruciating surgery and recovery, and I thank everyone in advance for reviewing my request and for their consideration and input (regardless of whether or not it is to support the request). :-) Best regards and sincerely yours - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:14, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Global rename for Tanbiruzzaman

Not ending before 04:57, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I am Tanbiruzzaman from bnwiki. I am applying for the Global Renamer right in accordance with the Global rename policy and the Global renamers policy page. My home wiki currently has no Global Renamers, and global renaming requests are handled only by two Stewards (they're also from bnwiki). I believe that having a local Global Renamer will improve response times for requests from my community. Also I wanna help other renamers to handle such requests here in meta. I am a crosswiki contributor and hold several global rights, including Global Sysop and Global Rollback, which require trust and knowledge of Wikimedia policies. I regularly assist users with technical and administrative issues and am familiar with rename processes. I have read and understood the Global rename policy and will ensure that I follow them strictly, handling all requests neutrally and respecting user privacy. I'll be happy to answer any questions. Thank you.–TANBIRUZZAMAN (💬) 04:57, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I'm SHB, a sysop and bureaucrat of enwikivoyage and a global sysop. I'm requesting GRN perms to help out with the load; if I pass, I'll start out with some of the easier requests and then potentially branch out to other more complex requests. I've familiarised myself with both Global renamers and the Global rename policy and am fairly familiar with the rename process. Thanks, //shb (tc) 09:36, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I am MS Sakib. I would like to request global renamer permission. As an administrator on bnwiki, I regularly handle usernames that violate the username policy and take appropriate actions against such accounts. My primary focus will be on bnwiki, where I want to assist users who request renames as part of their unblock process. In addition, I intend to help with requests submitted through Special:GlobalRenameRequest. I am familiar with the relevant policies, and I believe that, if granted this permission, I will be able to use the tools effectively and handle rename requests more efficiently. ≈  MS Sakib  📩 ·📝 15:01, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
