This page describes the governance and structure of the Wikimedia Fulfulde Community, a volunteer-driven community that promotes the use of Wikimedia projects in Fulfulde language. While we are not yet a recognized Wikimedia User Group, we follow open, transparent, and participatory structures to organize our activities.

Executive Structure

The Wikimedia Fulfulde Community is led by an Executive Team responsible for strategic leadership, governance, financial accountability, programme implementation, and operational coordination.

Executive Director

Idriss M. Musa: Provides strategic leadership, represents the community, oversees governance, and ensures the successful implementation of the community's annual plans.

Programs Lead	Programme design, planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Project Manager	Coordinates projects, monitors implementation, and ensures timely delivery.
Grant Manager	Manages grant applications, compliance requirements, reporting, and donor communication.
IT Manager	Provides technical support, manages Wikimedia platforms, and assists contributors with technical issues.
Events Coordinator	Plans and coordinates trainings, edit-a-thons, outreach events, and community logistics.

Members are encouraged to volunteer for committees based on their skills and interests.

Membership

Who can join? Membership is open to anyone interested in contributing to Wikimedia projects in Fulfulde language.
How to join? By attending at least one community meeting or activity and signing up on the community membership list.
Expectations: Members are encouraged to participate in discussions, volunteer for events, and follow Wikimedia’s Friendly Space Policy.

Constitution and Governance

The Wikimedia Fulfulde Community operates under a community constitution that outlines membership, leadership structure, decision-making processes, financial accountability, conflict resolution procedures, and future organizational development.

Decision-Making

Decisions are made through open discussions on WhatsApp group and community meetings.
For major decisions (e.g., applying for a grant, hosting a large event), consensus is preferred. If consensus cannot be reached, a simple majority vote is used.
Regular community meetings (quarterly) are held to review progress and plan activities.

Accountability and Transparency

Meeting notes and financial reports are shared publicly on Meta and the community WhatsApp Group.
All members can raise concerns, propose initiatives, or suggest improvements to governance.

Conflict Resolution

We encourage open and respectful communication among all members in the community including this group. Any non resolving conflicts within the group will be referred to the community at the village pump or any other appropriate place for amicable discussion and resolution.
Fulfulde Wikimedia Community follows specific policy for conflict resolution and abides by the Wikimedia Foundation Universal code of conduct. We encourage all members to familiarize themselves with these policies to ensure their work aligns with these.

Future Development and Recognition

As the community grows, this governance structure may evolve to prepare for recognition as an official Wikimedia User Group or other affiliate.
