As a continuation of the Teachers' Conference held in May, a practical training session for teachers was conducted on 7 July 2026 at Goce Delchev Primary School in Tetovo. The purpose of this activity was to enable participants to put the theoretical knowledge they had gained during the conference into practice by editing Wikipedia with the support of Wikimedia MKD trainers. The programme introduced educators to Wikipedia editing and demonstrated how Wikimedia projects can support teaching, learning, and open knowledge. Read more… The Cátedra Glaciares was an innovative collaboration between the National University of Colombia and Wikimedia Colombia that integrated open knowledge into university teaching and assessment. Its main innovation was a shared evaluation rubric that allowed students to complete their final assessment through contributions to Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia Colombia trained and supported the university team throughout the process, helping turn student work into collaborative knowledge production with public impact. Read more… Looking back at the period from December 2025 to the first half of 2026, I see it as an important moment for EduWiki work in Albania. It was a period of school outreach, online meetings, messages to teachers, WikiClub activities, university collaboration, and practical editing sessions with students. More than anything, it reminded me that EduWiki work is not only about organizing one training or one editathon. It is about building trust with schools and universities and showing, step by step, that Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects can be useful learning spaces. Wikimedia Ukraine participated in the Teachers of the Future 2026 festival in Lviv, one of Ukraine’s largest educational events with more than 3,000 participants. More than 180 people took part in our Wikimedia quiz, and over 100 educators joined our Telegram community for teachers. The event helped us introduce educators to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, better understand which topics need additional explanation, and promote the use of open knowledge and Wikimedia projects in Ukrainian education. Josenia Merencillo and Wikisource Loves Manuscripts PH volunteer Mary Joy Espiritu, they visited iconic Parisian landmarks associated with French culture, including the Eiffel Tower. The gesture symbolized the enduring connection between free knowledge, language preservation, and world literature. Read more… This year's Edu Wiki Camp brought together 17 participants from 10 different cities in Serbia, all to explore and closely understand open knowledge projects. The camp was especially meaningful because several former participants returned as Wiki Ambassadors and volunteers, helping to organise workshops, mentor new editors, and support the programme. Their journey from campers to organisers highlights the lasting impact of the camp and the strength of the Wikimedia community. Together with this year's participants, they contributed 30 new and improved Wikipedia articles, more than 300 media files to Wikimedia Commons, and over 400 Wikidata edits, ensuring that the camp leaves a lasting contribution to open knowledge.
