Egypt Wikimedians User Group/Wikiawarness

The WikiAwareness (in arabic: ويكي وعي) a Project founded in 2019, aims to raise awareness about Wikimedia projects and encourage volunteering, Through lectures, designs, educational videos, and social media posts.

the project also focus on correct misconceptions, and encourage new people to volunteer and participate. The project will depend on conducting media interviews, podcasts, social media, online advertising campaigns, and also campaigns within the group’s activity.

activities

1- Live stream: Live stream or Podcast to interact with users via the social media f the user group.

2- Quick lectures: A brief lecture is usually given before the group sessions begin, during which a quick overview of the Wikimedia projects concept is given, especially for users attending for the first time.

3- Online campaigns: The group is conducting some campaigns on social media sites through its official accounts, including: a campaign to proofread Wikipedia articles - a campaign (share your photo) - a campaign (10 minutes with Wikipedia), and others.

4- Communication with the media: The group communicates with some newspapers and magazines to publish articles about Wikipedia or about one of the Wikimedia projects with the aim of introducing it to the public and spreading awareness about the importance of these projects.

5- Distributing printed flyers to university students: As part of the activities at the universities, brochures or flyers may be distributed to encourage students to volunteer for Wikimedia projects. there are also a discussion and conversation with the students.
