WikiCred Lab Notebook/Tasks

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Brainstorming here! We might move these into prettier formats, but starting here for now.

Improving existing stuff

  • Improve signaling about LLM usage
    • Improve WP:LLM - nudge enwiki LLM prohibition language to include ** positive direction, not just "don't"
    • Add info about LLM use to WP:COI
    • Add info about LLM use to talk page header template
    • Contribute to discussion about AI-bot policies

Build capacity

  • Make and facilitate channel in Wikipedia Community Discord for verifiability/reliability/neutrality work
  • Create WikiLearn trainings on how and why to get and use permissions like NPP and AfC, why and how to run for admin, how to do AI cleanup, how to use verifiability and reliability tools, etc.
  • Run trainings for people in WikiCred community and anyone else interested
  • Run workshops for Bay Area Wikipedians User Group and other user groups, targeting somewhat experienced editors
  • Try building experimental workshop about patrolling recent changes for new contributors
  • Update Wikipedia:WikiProject Reliability
  • Update Wikipedia:Disinformation
  • Update Anti-Disinformation_Repository
  • Update Wikipedia:Signs of AI writing for most recent models
  • Use that page as a recruiting tool - make video and onboarding materials about how to do AI detection and cleanup
  • Create summaries and diagrams that could be helpful for students of Wikipedia Education Programs about genAI policies in Wikipedia in collaboration with WikiEdu Foundation? Our guidelines and policies are very text heavy, newcomer students would appreciate brevity?
  • Create a taxonomy for image gaps, aggregating a list of tools for mapping image gaps, and examining the tools, workflows, and practices that our community uses to find the most ideal images (or media in general) for illustrating a given Wikipedia article. In lines with the knowledge gap mapping series blog posts, except that this is for images
  • Communication and Engagement
