Unblock request declined

This blocked user has had their unblock request reviewed by one or more administrators, who has/have reviewed and declined this request.
Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason.
Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason: @EPIC: I would like to appeal my block. First, I have to admit that I created bad hand socks that imitate LTAs, mostly to ease my boredom while I have plenty of time but don’t have the energy to do constructive things. Although what must be put here, is that I have no connections with those abusers that I imitated. After the block, I understand that GHBH socking not only creates disruption, but also defeats the purpose of my constructive contributions, for two reasons: it reciprocates the benefits of my work, and gives the impression that I’m vandalising and cleaning it up, so as to gain “prestige” or “status”. It also harms the project and my fellow editors for the breach of trust built on my contributions, and I would like to sincerely apologise to them for this. If unblocked, I plan to continue vandalism patrolling and content work. The community need not forgive me, as I have breached the trust and it’s my responsibility to earn it back.

The global block, the block here, and the block on mediawikiwiki are all because of this, so I’m appealing all of them. Pinging EPIC as the one who carried out the block. Least Action (talk) 02:02, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason: It's far too early to be requesting an unblock, not after how egregious your socking was. There's very little sign of remorse in your unblock request either. Everything else that needs to be said has already been said below. //shb (tc) 07:40, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Personally speaking, I'm totally prone to decline the request. You also had rights like (G)IPBE and TAIV and gained access to the SWMT wiki, it's totally unexpected that such a "bad" vandalism has occurred from an account so trusted and active, even in patrolling (yes, "bad vandalism", full of insults, with very vulgar and offensive usernames now hiddenlocked or suppresslocked, and most of the accounts - those discovered with the CU in the last months - are currently locked). This account has not been intentionally locked to allow you to provide an explanation. I understand the apologies, but it's too easy to admit guilt after being completely and definitively exposed, after hundreds of vandalistic edits made "just for fun". Where's the fun in making other users waste their time chasing, reporting, rollbacking, and blocking you? Especially you who know what it means to patrol and be careful, always thinking in good faith, acting calmly and at the same time promptly!
No, I don't agree with the explanation which should lead to your unblocking, everyone should take responsibility for their own actions, and if the community loses trust in you, it depends solely on your actions, which cannot be reversed. Boredom isn't an excuse. If you're bored, you should be doing something productive and constructive (both in RL and/or on wiki), not something destructive to yourself or others. This wasn't a sporadic incident, and I currently count at least 9-10 different accounts, and that's the serious thing (and these are just the ones found now). It wasn't a one-off prank, but a recurring pattern, and we can't know how long it's been going on and how long it will continue. I don't have the confidence to believe it won't happen again. I await other third-party opinions, but personally mine is a big no and, indeed, a lot of your socks are locked. Sorry, I'm the first to believe in good faith and second chances and I will never like to throw people and users out, but this "joke" was so serious and systematic that it could not be considered an innocent prank. I wish you the best and I truly hope you understand what it means to take responsibility and accountability for your actions, it will also be useful in RL, betraying those who trust you is never the solution! I also don't like the fact that you created the unblock request so quickly. I'd have liked to see some time to make it clear that a period of reflection and apology had really been taken. Superpes15 (talk) 02:28, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, I do not see much sign of remorse in your unblock request; it looks perfunctory at best. It looks like you decided to admit your mistakes and apologise just because you got caught for creating bad-hand accounts, and all this was done out of boredom. Not having the energy to do constructive things does not give you any reason to cause damage to the project; you have to practise self-control whenever disruptive thoughts come to your mind. Like Superpes15, I also oppose the unblocking. If it was a one-off incident, we might be able to look past it, but that also depends on how sincere you are in your block appeal. However, given that your bad-hand accounts were created in a recurring pattern, I do not have confidence that you would not revert to your past patterns if you were to be unblocked. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 02:57, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Superpes15:I literally got the block as my wake-up alarm, so I wrote all of them in a hurry. I reflect that if I were an admin, seeing an one-off bad-hand prank will only have me posting a serious warning on their talk page, but yeah, multiple recurring incidents would definitely be met with a block. I understand the nature of this, especially taking the “recurring” into account.
All these, revealed a problem with myself: I tend to overlook the weight of trust, and take all of them for granted. I overlooked how I built the trust, and the “weight” of it, wrongly thinking that breaches can be reversed by getting a warning, a simple apology and promise not to do that again. So of course, this block and the strip of rights taught me a serious lesson. (See below) Least Action (talk) 03:19, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As for the accusation of lack of remorse, the first thing that came to my mind, when I saw the block, is, indeed, when could I get unblocked to resume editing, therefore made this appeal. There's nothing more to say for now, I think. Least Action (talk) 13:57, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Proposed temporary solution

[edit]

I realise that, with this block in place, I cannot prove that I won't revert back to an old modulus operandi. I understand the breach of trust is systemic and severe, especially because I was a user in good standing, with thousands of counter-vandalism contributions. For this, I request a little lift of this block, to allow me to contribute in a limited way, technically preventing any form of the old kind of disruption, while enabling me to earn back the trust under the scrutiny of the community.

  1. The global block remains in place, and I will not appeal that within six months;
  2. I get unblocked on Meta, where I do only counter-vandalism and translation work;
  3. I allow myself to be checked any time, which includes fishing for socks.

It's kind of a dilemma here: The fact that I did all of these, means that, at least for now, I'm unable to prove myself by dormancy of some time. However, I do love wikimedia, I regret doing all that. @Superpes15 and SHB2000: Least Action (talk) 14:38, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Love for the Wikimedia world is demonstrated by respecting and supporting the community and not trolling it. That said, I think I've expressed myself fully, the unblock request has been rejected by a third-party functionary. I don't understand why you're continuing as if we were seeking negotiations. You've had your answers and that's more than enough for me. Thanks! Superpes15 (talk) 15:25, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
As an admin rejecting some of your request, which felt disruptive as you repeatedly reported the same user, I totally oppose your solution. Admins, checkusers and stewards should not be nannys for bored users which can't decide, if they vandalise or patrol. NDG (talk) 17:01, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, and an emphatic one at that. Least Action, when you came to RfH and asked for TAIV, I chose to trust you, even though your overall experience at Meta was fairly low. You seemed like a genuine anti-vandalism patroller, and frankly you've thrown your lot in with the socks and LTAs. If you're being truthful, and I really hope you are, that you understand what was wrong with your actions, then get off the wikis. Take the standard offer and come back here after at least six months have passed. The biggest thing I don't think you get in your unblock appeal is that you had people on this very wiki, as well as cross-wiki, that trusted you, believed you, and wanted to see you thrive. And you backstabbed them all, because you were, what, bored? If you loved Wikimedia, you wouldn't have harmed it with your socking. EggRoll97 (talk) 02:29, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@EggRoll97: I would not apply the standard offer in this case! Furthermore metawiki and global block have different policies respect to enwiki, for me the block can remain as it is, considering also all the other seriously offensive users (some even suppressed) and that they are already blocked! Superpes15 (talk) 19:54, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Superpes15: I do not think an indefinite block needs to equate to forever. I'm sure behind CUwiki you have plenty of examples, which I will point out that most people do not have access to, so respectfully, I am phrasing my comment above as based on what is public knowledge. That said, I should make it clear, their "boredom" excuse is not endearing in the least. EggRoll97 (talk) 21:30, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@EggRoll97: I agree with the part about the indefinite block, I also believe that at a certain point the user can try to return, with due caution. Considering what happened, 6 months is certainly not enough, if I had thought of a block with an expiry date, it certainly would not have been less than a year in this case. I have no problem listing the registered usernames associated with this account, but they are all either offensive or used for impersonation purposes. In any case, if you are considering reviewing the block in 6 months, I personally won't oppose this (obviously I'm referring to the metawiki block). Superpes15 (talk) 02:08, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
So do all these mean that I'm forever out of here? as based on what you've stated, the chances of a successful appeal are so slim, and I would have nothing to present as evidence of "I will be good", except for some months staying off and a paragraph of new appeal. Least Action (talk) 15:04, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think you have to take responsibility for what you did previously, and it is recommended that you take a few-month-long wikibreak, which can benefit your mental health and reduce your stress cased by Wikipedia. " I would have nothing to present as evidence of "I will be good"" Not creating any new sockpuppets can be evidence to prove your change. Thanks. SCP-2000 16:11, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Like SCP said above, but I will add, you've caused a large amount of people to build up trust in you. You then turned around and used that trust to get away with sockpuppetry and manipulative behavior. Stop commenting here, log out of Wikipedia, and go do something else. By continuing to comment and complain about your block, you are just going to prove to people that you aren't ready to be unblocked. Take a lot of time off, and maybe, when you eventually come back, people will be hesitantly ready to give you another chance. EggRoll97 (talk) 02:13, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
