[edit]I'm posting it here instead of there for reasons that you're more than welcome to find out - it also has to do with Jimbo and a incredibly serious problem he couldn't and shouldn't have feigned confusion over. It concerns how you've been feeling about contributing on WP, that it's no longer something that is a hobby or fun thing and the founders of this idea [are] running their mouths subversive of and contrary to the project's long-held policies. Suffice to say, you're not the only one feeling like Jimmy Wales has let us down of late and thinking that he should have handled things better. Honestly, between attempts by ANI in India, the US government, Heritage Foundation and possibly Larry Sanger (his "theses" I completely find rubbish, even on old-fashioned NPOV) to impose their wills counter to Wikipedia, and the bunch of controversies that WMF has been involved in like those errant temp accounts going around, removing 2 qualified candidates for the Board of Trustees a week before the BoT election and apparently planning to let AI slop in articles, I don't know what's worse. Regardless, that's why I support Clovermoss's petition to hopefully foster a better environment for all; if it comes down to it, then I'd like to see the Board overhauled by the community (even if that means Jimbo must be forced out).
Still, as a fellow editor that registered the exact same year as you (2024), this doesn't mean you should quit contributing altogether and never come back here. I insist, even if you think it's like an authoritarian regime is in charge (or complicity to be part of one), that you stay the course. Make a difference for the movement, even if the WMF and Jimbo the Chairman of the People's Republic of Wikipedia don't recognize your best efforts like on Jeff Sneider, Draft:Superman (DC Universe) and Gustavo Santaolalla. Perhaps consider getting the most adorable land-walking Selachian to ever don the comics, virtuals and small screens (and soon, big-time in the MCU) to GA status? Please don't waste your talents, Danny, because that'd be a terrible thing to waste. Thank you. 2601AC47 (talk) 22:58, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement in the face of, well, *gestures vaguely*. Good to see Clovermoss is still doing things—I think I vaguely remember a while back on enWiki them getting into a heated conflict with an Admin (who I just happened to have once did a GA with one time) and they both "quit" for their troubles. And while I know the latter quickly made a return, I hadn't heard tell of how Clovermoss was doing. I loved their editor reflections project, having contributed to it myself earlier on in its time—so it's good to see Clovermoss hasn't given up. I will have to check out helping on the Land Shark article—I'm curious to see if I find him more interesting to read up on and write about than that other Jeff mentioned above.
- P.S. since I'm sure that my whole "being a brash dickhead to both co-founders of Wikipedia" thing is bound to leave me with bad karma, I will now make an attempt to assuage this: Long Live Chairman Jimbo for Ten Thousand Years! BarntToust (talk) 06:19, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- P.S. if it is in the Russo brothers's plan to put Jeff in Secret Wars, that singular creative decision alone will be responsible for at least $3 billion in ticket sales. maybe 4. BarntToust (talk) 06:23, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- And voiced by none other than Jon Bailey, I hope. Unfortunately, in this day and age, $4B at the box office might be too far off. $2B (about 40% of it in the US) is more realistic, but it would certainly propel the Land Shark's fame even further than he has achieved in Marvel Rivals (that's how I first learned of this land-swimming wonderment), putting him on par with Spidey. Also, do read up on the 5-issue limited series; it's fin-tastic, to say the least!
- In any case, I appreciate your commitment towards continuing the hard work. Just don't worry about the bad karma. Like a bad credit score, it can always be improved. 2601AC47 (talk) 14:40, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
