Meditation on a Parrot’s Eye
[edit]Parrots (Psittaciformes) can distinguish more images per second than you and I can. We don’t know how birds see. We can only guess.
Looking (or listening) closely is vital for us as living beings. At the same time, we cannot trust our senses: The brain interprets the reality around us.
Perception also means acknowledging that things may be different than they seem. We don’t know what others feel and think. We can only guess.
I like to look closely. The beauty of texts is important to me. So is justice. Everyone should get their rights. As long as no one’s rights are harmed in return.
Observing also means recognizing what’s missing. Who isn’t visible? Who is being forgotten? Look closely. Take action. We can change it—also on Wikipedia.
About me
Between 45-54 yo. Male. German. European. Love birds. Worked as a teacher for over 20 years. My Future? A little uncertain.
My work
I work mostly in German Wikipedia: bios about women and scientists, literary topics. One of the editors in the “Did You Know?” section on the German main page. Quite interesting: Which content does attract people, which doesn't? Love to use printed sources for my articles or edits in general. Sometimes a little bit old-fashioned. Part of a team, that organises online-introductions für Wikipedia-newbies. Because of my DNA as a teacher.
