About me
Hi! I'm Maciek. I've been editing Wikipedia for over twenty years under the username Piastu — writing and expanding articles, working heavily on Wikidata and curating media on Wikimedia Commons. By profession I'm a back-end developer, mostly in Python, with a soft spot for databases (both SQL and NoSQL) and for turning messy metadata into something structured and reusable. On the wikis I move between pl.wikipedia, Wikidata and Commons.
My work
I've joined the Wikimedia Polska team temporarily, to cover for Ada Skirło while she's away. My role is technical, organisational and administrative support for WMPL staff and the wider community of Wikimedia volunteers — much of what Ada usually takes care of. Alongside that I keep working on GLAM partnerships: mass uploads to Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata reconciliation and data-quality work. This is a temporary arrangement.
