Places and communities that host Wiki Hour
Global Platform Ghana
Youth training hub and early host
At Global Platform Ghana, Wiki Hour has access to youth‑focused spaces where edit sessions and SDG conversations can run side by side. Participants often make their first contributions to Wikimedia projects in these rooms.
JAF and House of Grace
Through partners like JAF and House of Grace, Wiki Hour connects with children and young women who are beginning their digital journeys in safe, trusted environments. Their long‑term work with families and learners makes it easier to introduce open knowledge as part of a broader path in education and empowerment.
Knowledge and movement allies
Partners that support learning and representation
Offline access to Wikimedia content
Kiwix allows Wiki Hour participants to keep exploring Wikipedia and related resources when internet access is unstable or expensive. It fits directly with WHI’s focus on learners in areas where connectivity cannot be taken for granted.
Supporting editors of African descent
AfroCROWD’s work to uplift people of African descent in Wikimedia spaces echoes what Wiki Hour is doing in Ghana. Their campaigns and learning materials help WHI participants see themselves as part of a wider movement for better representation.
Other supporting African communities
Wikimedia communities we draw inspiration from
The Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania shows how local language work, regular events, and strong community ties can sustain editing over time. Their experience guides how Wiki Hour thinks about long‑term support for contributors.
Côte d’Ivoire
The Wikimedia Community User Group Côte d’Ivoire develops projects in French and local languages, showing how Wikimedia activities can be rooted in local culture and education systems.
The Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda runs outreach in schools and communities, offering models for integrating editing into learning and civic projects that Wiki Hour can adapt in Ghana.
