Translation screwed up
Hi, I tried to fix the translation of this page that is only visible at Requests for comment/Head but not here, but it seemed not to work. @Peteforsyth and Kaganer: could you help fixing? --.js[democracy needed] 22:21, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- This worked correctly. All "/Head" boxes in this site are designed in a similar way. If topic page is not multilingual, then is displayed translation what is mathed with the language of the user interface (if exist). No additional links to another versions, only one link "(translate)" in right top or bottom left corner. For another way needs to additional .js support (as in license boxes on Commons).--Kaganer (talk) 18:01, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
Check Users keeping data for more than 3 months
I want to start an RFC that should Check users be allowed to keep personal data off wiki?. CU data is kept for 3 months according to policy. Some check users in English wiki are keeping for more than 3 months including more than a year. User JackTheVicar was blocked as sock of Colonel Henry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/JackTheVicar
How did they found out that he is Colonel Henry after so many months?
If they keep data for long term cases it's okay but some of the check users in English Wikipedia save data off wiki which is not a good practice. Different users using the same ISP can also be blocked as your socks. As it happened to me, which ultimately destroyed my wiki career.
If CU is kept for 3 months then this comment can't be made
This is not only about me or JackTheVicar. Question is how many such user's data is kept for more than 3 months.
Recently English wikipedia administrator was banned. His username is User:Soap. Now I am pretty sure that his CU data will be kept for more than 3 months. --The Avengers (talk) 01:31, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- The fact that a check was performed and on which target is kept in the logs indefinitely. Checkuser data is also saved on the checkuser wiki (checkuser.wikimedia.org) for long-term and cross-wiki cases. This is standard practice, and explicitly allowed by the privacy policy. - That means if a CU is performed on a user, his IP details are kept for more than 3 months in the check user log. Many months ago (June 2015) SPI was done on X Tools creator techinal 13. Delta Quaid, was the check user. If there is any new user who is like technical 13 and an SPI case is filed, then delta Quaid can check the user with technical 13 from the old check user log. I was not a very long term case, but still Mike V had CU details about me (even after 6 months). I think this 3 months policy is only for those users who was never blocked for sockpuppetry. --The Avengers (talk) 08:51, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
