Relevance for Belarusian Wikipedia projects

[edit]

Why are be and be-tarask projects in the delivery targets for messages regarding Russian language events? As I can see from the events description, they are targeted at "communities and individuals of the CEE region and Central Asia, which are using Russian language as their primary language". Neither be nor be-tarask communities accept Russian as their primary language. Although this language is understood by most Belarusians, it's not required nor expected to know it in order to contribute to Belarusian Wikipedia projects. I can't speak for the whole community but to me one of the reasons of contributing to Belarusian Wikipedia is supporting anti-russification efforts in my country. And I have an impression that most Russian-speaking wikipedians from Belarus work in the Russian Wikipedia and can see these messages in its forum. I don't understand why be and be-tarask are included while for example Ukrainian Wikipedia with similar linguistic situation (most Ukrainians understand Russian) is not.

Please either exclude us from the list or at least do some poll in both communities to see if we want to be receive these messages or not. A potato hater (talk) 15:08, 7 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

In my view notifications from Wikimedia CEE Hub/Russian language events are spam for be.wikipedia.org. It would be enough to report information about the Belarusian-language and global events in the Belarusian Wikipedia.--Hanylka (talk) 17:14, 7 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
