[edit]This wish appears to be a duplicate of W264: Allow users to pin/unpin specific languages in interwiki links. Nardog (talk) 00:00, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! I thought I had read about it somewhere but I wasn't sure and thought it was just some issue on phabricator. So it looks like these two need to be merged. I think the title of yours is a bit unclear currently; it's unclear what is meant with pinning and what for; e.g. "Pin preferred specific languages" would make it clearer. That there may be room for improvement is underlined by just one supporter of the wish so far (me apparently). Probably there also is quite a bit of info about why this would be useful in my wish that's not present in yours but that's not as important and most if could be added to just the talk page (but maybe a sentence or two at least could be added). Then I think the image tremendously helps to quickly and clearly communicate the idea so I think it should be merged in as it helps to understand this idea easily. - I've tweaked the title and added the image in that wish. Nardog (talk) 13:23, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you both! If you're both in agreement, then we can close this one and we'll resurface this to the relevant team. It was marked a long-term opportunity a while ago, so it's a good time to revisit with stakeholders. MikeZ-WMF (talk) 10:26, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. I think this wish has some info that the other wish doesn't and the other wish has info this wish hasn't. There's also advantages in keeping a wish short. Nevertheless, some info on how this could be used / why this would be useful may be good to add to the other wish. The respective stakeholders also could read both if there is a link or if the content of this wish is added to the talk page. As long as it eventually gets done (which may require stakeholders to understand well the impact/importance of this), the content of the wishes don't matter much. Thanks, Prototyperspective (talk) 12:04, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

- To close the loop here, this has been marked as a duplicate of W264 - please vote this up if you haven't already! MikeZ-WMF (talk) 11:40, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- No, closing a wish as duplicate should automatically merge the votes! Prototyperspective (talk) 11:45, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Honestly, I prefer not to have my votes merged automatically, since I might not agree that the second wish is a duplicate of the first one. Speaking generally, not about this very wish. --Paloi Sciurala (talk|contribs) 16:18, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, fair point - I've added this to the related Phab ticket: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T418937#11698805 MikeZ-WMF (talk) 17:05, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
