Requests for other global permissions

Interface editor for Mr. Stradivarius

I'd like to request global interface editor rights for fixing old JavaScript gadgets. In particular, on 1-2 July, an API change will come into effect that will stop many gadgets from working properly. I have fixed all of these scripts on enwiki and mediawikiwiki, where I am an admin, but there are still a lot of scripts left to fix on other wikis. Some of the scripts that will break are relied on heavily by editors on many wikis, for example HotCat. I have not counted the exact number of gadgets that need fixing, but the numbers from specific wikis should give you an idea: 10 on Commons, 1 on itwiki, 1 on zhwiki, 1 on enwikibooks, 2 on enwikiversity, and I'm sure there are quite a few more that I would find with a proper automated search. I would like the ability to go and fix these scripts directly.

It should be done in a week or two, hopefully before the gadgets break, but fixing them after they break would be better than not fixing them at all. Ideally I would like the ability to fix user JavaScript as well, but there doesn't appear to be a user right that allows this easily. (Global sysop would allow it on smaller wikis, but most of the wikis where the problem is most apparent have opted out.)

A quick overview of my technical abilities: I started out by editing Lua modules, which I have now been doing for a couple of years. You can see a selection of the modules I have created here. I started learning JavaScript in earnest earlier this year, and I have now created a couple of sizable gadgets: SpamUserPage and SignpostTagger. I have also had a few patches accepted to various Wikimedia repositories (mostly Scribunto). — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 04:00, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Note: I have since made an edit request on Commons to get HotCat fixed, carried out by User:INeverCry. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 10:00, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Global interface editor renewal for Krenair

Requesting renewal of this request for another year of maintaining the interface across wikis, as it expires soon. In addition to the things noted there, I'm now also a volunteer Wikimedia sysadmin. It's also worth noting that since that request, I have also ended up obtaining the same right as a WMF contractor, as I occasionally needed to use it in the course of my work (as I do not believe I could use my volunteer flag for that), which does not expire like this one, but it's very separate. Thanks, --Krenair (talkcontribs) 00:42, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

I'd prefer if we could make this indefinite rather than temporary, as some other existing non-WMF global interface editors appear to be, based on their absence at Steward requests/Global permissions/Permissions/Approved temporary. The language used in the policy is "By default, appointment will be temporary", so I assume this is OK? --Krenair (talkcontribs) 00:58, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
My guess is that was more of an oversight than being done on purpose; the granting steward has to manually go to that page and add it as the bot does not handle it. --Rschen7754 01:11, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
Perhaps. We can guess what they intended, but I believe that the policy allows it to be indefinite if requested. --Krenair (talkcontribs) 01:34, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
