Bot status requests

SIITBot@shnwiktionary

Done. EPIC (talk) 16:08, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

Asperebot@kowikisource

No objections in the local community. I plan to use this bot to perform text replacement and/or maintenance tasks. Aspere (talk) 14:02, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

Done EPIC (talk) 16:10, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

Leaderbot@zhwiktionary

No response, no bureaucrat. As the request states, either bot or confirmed rights would be required due to captchas. Leaderboard (talk) 13:10, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

The wiki seems to require explicit approval for bots, but since no one objected I think it might be sufficient for an admin to approve. @TongcyDai: Any opinions from your side? (ping to active admin) EPIC (talk) 16:15, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
@EPIC, @Leaderboard: No objection to confirmed rights as it solves the captcha issue. TongcyDai  ฅ • ω • ฅ 16:39, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Done per above. Flag can be removed if/when bot is autoconfirmed. EPIC (talk) 16:43, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

Removal of bot status

List of bots @ar.wiktionary

Hello,
I'm an administrator at Arabic Wiktionary. Due to the absence of local bureaucrats, I'm requesting here the removal of the bot flag from a list of bots that have been inactive for more than seven years.
Here is the list:

  1. AvocatoBot
  2. CarsracBot
  3. HydrizBot
  4. JAnDbot
  5. KamikazeBot
  6. LordAnubisBOT
  7. Luckas-bot
  8. Makecat-bot
  9. Mbot
  10. MenasimBot
  11. MonoBot
  12. OKBOT
  13. OctraBot
  14. RobotGMwikt
  15. SpaceBirdyBot
  16. UT-interwiki-Bot
  17. VolkovBot
  18. YS-Bot

Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Najem Ajem () 05:53, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Is there any local inactivity policy for bots, or any local discussion with support for removal of the flags? EPIC (talk) 05:54, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
@EPIC: Sorry for not addressing this earlier. I've now included a link to a recent local supportive discussion on this matter. While there is no specific local policy regarding the removal of bot flags, some other Arabic sister projects have a related policy that mandates the removal of bots inactive for more than five years. Cheers, Najem Ajem () 07:57, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Thank you. Have the bot owners been informed and could they be informed if not? EPIC (talk) 21:02, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
@EPIC: Most of the involved operators are retired and may have even forgotten that they once operated a bot on Arabic Wiktionary, despite being mentioned in the local discussion. I want to highlight the importance of removing the bot flag from inactive bots—especially those inactive for more than seven years in our case. Unauthorized access to these accounts could lead to massive automated spam edits, which would be particularly problematic since bot edits are, by default, hidden from recent changes. Najem Ajem () 23:37, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
Done considering that no one has objected, and that the operators were notifed a week ago with no responses. EPIC (talk) 14:19, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
