Requests for global rollback permissions
Global rollback for علاء
- Global user: علاء (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 26 June 2017 16:30 UTC
Hello, I'm a member of SWMT and I'm active in the fight against vandalism. I have experience both in the fight against vandalism in the use of the rollback permission. Sometime I wanna eliminate vandalism in some wikis that I don't have a rollback permission on it so I have to undo multiple changes that are made by the same user but with the flag of Global Rollback could undo all the changes that user has done at once, also notice (Sub-reason) that there is no Global rollback who are Arabic native language that can deal easily with fight vandalism in Ar. projects and other nearby languages. --Alaa :)..! 16:41, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Support Very trusted user in many wikis and with great experience. It is rolbacker in some wikis and knows how to use the rolback function at best. Also, it is an OTRS user and a global rename, and in addition all this demonstrates great reliability and competence in the functions it carries out. --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 17:30, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Oppose After a random check of wikis the user has edited, I cannot find any vandal reverts in languages the user does not speak. Most of the crosswiki contributions are from global name or file replace. --Rschen7754 05:49, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Rschen7754: I think vandal reverts in Arabic language (& other nearby language) is enough previously, specially if you notice that there's no active good users in it (almost 0 or 1 per month), notice also there's no permissions in this small wikis. finally notice that I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed. (Remind fight against vandalism in content not just related to use Rollback button, some time I accept edits and remove the vandal contents). Thanks --Alaa :)..! 06:00, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- The problem is that global rollback is truly global and gives you rights on all wikis. Candidates need to demonstrate that they are able to revert vandalism in a wide variety of languages, or they will be given rights that they cannot properly use. --Rschen7754 06:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Rschen7754: Thanks for you replay, I don't think it's a problem if the user know how and where to use it, and I repeat that I wanna you to think the load of vandalism that we've in ar.wiki projects (and as you know all ar. users work in ar.wikipedia and other ar.projects became suitable place for vandals), and please don't think that I'm a hat collecting user! I ask for any permission if I wanna use it properly, because of this I mentioned to you that I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed. Oppose for now, there's not enough activity for my liking. eurodyne (talk) 06:03, 22 June 2017 (UTC)- Neutral, Rschen7754's comment concerns me. I would like to see you more active in reverts across many wikis, and I should reconsider in the future. Activity in reverts on many wikis is required for this right. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 10:55, 22 June 2017 (UTC).
Support, looks decent with me. MechQuester (talk) 16:17, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Neutral, I trust him, but I can't support per Rschen7754, most of his edits are just renames, and I haven't seen him actively reverting vandalism. Stryn (talk) 21:16, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Oppose the policy for granting this right requires experience reverting across multiple wikis and language barriers, and I don't think that requirement has been met. If it has and I just don't see it, then please provide examples of reverts on small wikis / wikis where you don't speak the language so I can evaluate your suitability. I can't find any myself. – Ajraddatz (talk) 20:33, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Ajraddatz:
In the Global rollbackers policy & information that don't say that I must been active in anti-spam activities in projects except project of my native language, please take a look in Arabic small projects (wiki-news,source,versity,ionary,quote,books), I don't see GR use the rights there (just in rare condition) although there's a huge vandalism there (notice in these project almost 0 prominent active user per month), and as I said to Rschen7754 above "I can request temporary sysop for these wikis but I know that I wanna help in fight against vandalism not in sysop filed", also in the policy not mentioned that I must being active in anti-spam activities in small wikis only (notice that small wikis mentioned as an example of cross-wiki countervandalism). I'm a rollbacker in 3 projects include wikidata where just 174 user have this permission, and I'm a sysop in 3 wikis also (one of them temporary), finally please as a sub-reason consider the language difference and the problem that we've because no stewards, GS & GR who are ar-n. Thanks --Alaa :)..! 23:42, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- "For consideration, users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities and make heavy use of revert on many wikis". It's about having some level of experience in what this toolset is used for. I have a generally quite low standard for this, but I can't find any instances where having this right would have helped for you, because you don't seem to be active in ways that would need it. If you have specific experience, then please, show me some diffs. – Ajraddatz (talk) 02:04, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Having brought the outcome of this request up for discussion to the stewards team and remembering that this is not a vote, and that stewards will determine whether consensus exists; and when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential, we've decided not to grant this request at this time. The user do not show enough involvement in cross-wiki countervandalism as mandated by the policy. Therefore while we certainly appreciate علاء's work and we encourage him to continue doing it, we concur with those opposing that the policy requirements ain't met yet. —MarcoAurelio 14:10, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Global sysop for Samuele2002

I am global rolback and I'm very active in SWMT activities.I request for the Global Sysop flag for administrator actions on wikis without administrators or inactive administrators to defend these wikis from vandalisms. Very often I happen to put the Delete template on many pages (for various reasons: no sense, spam test ...) but I can not delete the pages directly.I know the tasks and functions of an admin very well because I'm administrator in various projects (it.wikiversity beta.wikiversity outreach Wikimania2017 ia.Wikibooks ia.wiktionary chr.wiktionary test and test2 wikipedia and test.wikidata). Thank you --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 15:04, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Support Good activity. --Rschen7754 05:51, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- In response to some of the points below, if it was 10 large or medium-sized production wikis I would be more concerned, but only half are content wikis. Arguably, some of the temporary sysop functions could be replaced by GS (I know some folks won't be happy with me saying that, and I know that global sysops are told to tread carefully, but it is generally accepted that GS rights can be used for cleanup purposes. That all being said, MarcoAurelio does have some points worth considering. --Rschen7754 07:11, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
Support no issues eurodyne (talk) 06:04, 22 June 2017 (UTC)- Support, very good. --Ks-M9 [disc.] 10:26, 22 June 2017 (UTC).
Support I would say he can be trusted . MechQuester (talk) 16:17, 22 June 2017 (UTC)- Comment. I am a bit concerned to be sincere. You currently hold adminship on 10 wikis, some of them on temporary basis, as you mention in your statement. Basically I share the feelings that Vituzzu pointed at you less than a month ago. This is not saying that you're doing bad out there, but accumulating statuses on several projects leads to quick burnout if not managed properly. If that happens it is likely that the burned out editor quits and an inactive user is like having no user at all. That said, I applaud your willingness to help global sysop wikis, though; but you should ask yourself if you can really handle them all and reply yourself with sincerity. If you've got the time and dedication to do it then 'thanks' for taking care of them, if not, it'll be wise not to further increase your responsabilities and take care of what you already do. Just a friendly advice. Regards, —MarcoAurelio 19:13, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

- I respond to everyone before you can misunderstand some things:
It is not in my intentions collecting flags and prudent requests to do so are carefully calculated by assessing whether they are able to perform the task and I have no intent to have an excessive number of flags since in any case in the end what should I serve? Do not overdo the number of administrator flags and purposes
Of the 10 wiki where I have administrator flsg: 3 are trial 3 are temporary fls awaiting the flag of Global Sysop (because a month ago it was in my opinion a bit early to make the request) and those in which I really are active As administrator are only four 4
Since test wikis are like wiki names where testing admin functions without doing constant activity do not have any consideration I've just scored among the wikis I have the flag for transparency because I think it's always better to let them know right away In which wiki you are admin and so on.
So the other 7 wiki 3 are with the temporary flag allocated exclusively to start wiki monitoring before requiring the global sysop flag but i'm not going to renew the flag (in my fears that a premature request would probably be rejected ) So there are four wikis in which I am actually an administrator and it is not for collecting flags but just to be of help I would not have any place to brag about my flags. Of these four wikis: it.wikiversity and beta.wikiversity are the wikis in which I flag actively Outreach in order to be able to do the actions of an administrator and wikimania2017 in order to translate into Italian the pages of our mediawiki as well as obviously delete any spam pages or other. I do not see anything strange in this, but there are some doubts about time: I want to make clear that I have enough time to dedicate enough to Wikimedia projects. --Samuele2002 (Talk!) 11:07, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Support I'm aware of the hat collecting concerns, but I don't see any issues with sysop tool abuse and so I have no basis to oppose along those grounds. There is every indication that the user will remain active in this area and make useful actions, meeting the standard of experience that I would expect in a candidate. Thanks for volunteering – Ajraddatz (talk) 02:06, 26 June 2017 (UTC)
