This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirements are listed here.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

  • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
  • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
  • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.
  • All processed requests are automatically archived after 24 hours of no activity. Use {{PinSRP}} on a request section to prevent it from being archived, or {{ArchiveNowSRP}} to archive a request section as soon as possible.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

2. Fill in the values:

  • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
  • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case this is for multiple users, leave this field blank and give a list of these users in your remarks.
  • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

@Johannnes89, das ist nicht so. This is way out of box. My block on enwiki doesn't serve as a hindrance for my case with Igwiki; I shall still appeal to know how User:Asilvering did the off-wiki investigation because I still testify of having no business with anybody. Even the evidence they claim to have gotten wasn't shown to me, to prove whether it is actually falsified, etc. But that's by the way, it doesn't concern me from the basis of Igwiki. You should check my contributions there and see if I meet the threshold. Again, the mode of requesting admin in that wiki is very scattered and not organised; those I plan to finalise when my Sysop right is renewed. Best! I lean towards not granting. The comment by King ChristLike doesn't seem to be addressed for ("this is really the case of having a fellow country man stab another" – really?), and the request still hasn't been transcluded. While indeffed on enwiki, I wouldn't take that into account given the candidate already has sysop perms (if it was their first request, I likely would've also declined on that basis). //shb (t • c) 23:48, 4 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Excuse me, the local policy states:

The interference admin. must have experience and knowledge that isn't lacking in code and technical matters, such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and JSON.

Do you have experience with these codes? I don't know how consensus is normally reached in small wiki projects, but the vote only ran for 6 days and only two people voted, I don't think that considerd as consensus. --Wassimtalk 23:23, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Yes, I do have technical experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON. I have worked on Wikimedia-related technical projects, automation tools and scripts, and I also have experience with web development and APIs.
Regarding the consensus, I understand your concern about the discussion lasting only six days and having only two participants. Since this is a small wiki, participation in community discussions is often limited. However, I agree that consensus should not simply be determined by the number of supporting votes, and I have no objection to extending the discussion so that more community members have an opportunity to comment.

Mamouri@fa.wiktionary

Hello, stewards. I'm requesting interface administrator access on the Persian Wiktionary (fa.wiktionary). The local community discussion, with the support of the project's only active administrator (The.shahab), is linked above.

Context: the Twinkle gadget on fa.wiktionary has been broken and effectively unused for years. It was copied verbatim from the Persian Wikipedia and never adapted — its modules pointed at Wikipedia's deletion criteria, templates and noticeboards instead of Wiktionary's, and the gadget definition loaded several module pages that don't exist locally, so the gadget failed to assemble at all.

I have rewritten and localised the whole tool for Wiktionary (speedy deletion, proposed deletion, user warnings, reporting to admins, welcome, tagging, and the batch/admin tools), created the supporting pages it needs, and tested the assembled gadget in the browser on fa.wiktionary. Everything is finished and staged in my userspace; a summary and installation notes are here: User:Mamouri/توینکل.

The only remaining step needs the interface-admin right: the finished code has to be copied into the MediaWiki:Gadget-*.js pages and MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition updated. fa.wiktionary has no local interface administrator and no local bureaucrat, so a steward grant is the only way to do this.

On the two points I expect you'll check: I have two-factor authentication enabled on my account, and I'm comfortable with JavaScript, CSS and JSON — the entire localisation above is my own work and is visible in the staged pages. I'm happy for the access to be time-limited if you prefer; a longer grant would let me keep the gadget maintained as Wiktionary's templates change. Thank you.   • A small project does not need bureaucrats. Currently whether a promotion is valid or not is decided by stewards. See here for a guideline.

CheckUser access

  • One-time CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by Stewards or when the mandate of the CUs has an expiry date specified in local policies.
  • Since 2026, all CheckUsers are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.

Oversight access

  • Since 2026, all oversighters are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Please, enable it before posting your request here.
  • When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list.

Removal of access

  • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
  • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
  • See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.

His exemption should be revoked. His violations include the use of obscene profanity, the use of a spare account, and maintaining an illicit account.
