I am applying on behalf of the Fante Wikimedians Community, and the requested laptop would be owned by the community rather than by me as an individual. I am Robertjamal12, founder and Community Lead of the Fante Wikimedians Community and a long-term Wikimedia contributor, organizer and trainer. I also serve as an administrator on the Fante and Twi Wikipedias. Fante Wikimedians Community began in 2021 as an informal volunteer community focused on promoting and improving Fante-language content across Wikimedia projects. Since then, the community has grown and formalized its structures and is now registered as a nonprofit organization in Ghana. Our activities include Wikimedia training, edit-a-thons, community outreach, mentorship, translation activities, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons projects, content campaigns, and activities aimed at preserving and making Fante language, culture and heritage more accessible through open knowledge. Over the years, we have successfully implemented a number of Wikimedia-funded projects and maintain a public reports page documenting our activities and use of Movement resources. The community also maintains a public equipment and assets tracking page. Any laptop received through this programme would be added to this page and managed as an accountable community resource.

We currently have one community laptop. As our programmes have grown, having only one shared community laptop has become limiting, particularly during training sessions and editing activities where trainers need a computer for demonstrations while volunteers or participants may simultaneously require access to a device for hands-on Wikimedia work. The laptop would remain the property of Fante Wikimedians Community. It would be kept by an authorized community custodian and made available for approved Wikimedia activities. Its acquisition, status and use would be publicly documented through our Assets page.

Wikidata's 13th birthday in Cape Coast
Wikidata Days Takoradi 2025 – Fante Wikimedians Community organized an in-person Wikidata event in Takoradi focused on introducing volunteers to Wikidata and providing practical training in creating and editing Wikidata items in Fante and English.
