Wikipedia 25: Setswana Knowledge Activation Campaign is a community-driven initiative organized by WikiVerse Botswana to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia while expanding the availability of knowledge in the Setswana language across Wikimedia projects.
The campaign recognizes Wikipedia's role as a global platform for free knowledge and uses this milestone to address the underrepresentation of Setswana-language content online. Through training, editing activities, translation efforts, and media documentation, the project aims to preserve Botswana's knowledge, culture, history, and contemporary realities for future generations.
The campaign brings together students, educators, cultural practitioners, community members, and Wikimedia volunteers to contribute content that reflects Botswana from a local perspective and in a local language.
