From 12 to 15 December 2025, Egypt Wikimedians User Group (EWUG) organized a phototrip to Siwa oasis in the western desert of Egypt. Members of the group, including four professional photographers, took several photos to be used in various Wikimedia projects, most notably WikiCommons. This visit was specifically dedicated to documenting this far cultural part of Egypt.

Outcome
[edit]- The EWUG members uploaded more than 2,880 photographs documenting monuments, architecture, people, and natural landscapes, along with dozens of newly created categories on Wikimedia Commons.
- Editing articles such as the Temple of the Oracle, the Temple of Amun (Umm Ubayda), the Siwi language, the Siwi people, and Gebel al-Mawta.
- Creating articles on Gebel el-Dakrur, Shali Fortress, Tatandy Mosque, the Old Mosque, the King’s Mosque, and Tarfutet.
