Enable entering a specific location on Wikipedia's & Wikivoyage's Nearby page (Community Wishlist/W407)

Description

At https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby and https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Special:Nearby one can only let it locate you and then see articles near you how. However, many people don't wish to do that:

for privacy reasons and/or
because they'd like to see articles around a specific place, for example one they plan to visit soon

I wonder why this isn't possible yet. This would enable people who don't want to grant access to location services or would like to see articles around a specific place to use the Nearby map.

One can already manually enter geocoordinates...but really.

It is also possible to manually specify a location by including its latitude and longitude as URL parameters. For example, this URL will generate a list of articles near the w:Statue of Liberty in New York City, US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby#/coord/40.69,-74.04

The change requested here is to make this available not by allowing a very small fraction of users who know this is possible and who know the precise geocoordinates to hack around with the URL but to make this available in the form of an input field "Enter location" where one can enter either the geocoordinates or the location like some city with autocomplete. Ideally, there would also be a map where one can click at the location or which simply shows nearby articles of whatever region is currently visible/zoomed in. The only place where this works properly (but the map is filled with countless irrelevant articles that one can't filter away) is the Wikipedia mobile app.

Probably the most straightforward way would be to just adopt what's already implemented at https://wikishootme.toolforge.org/ where one can enter the place name and it shows results to select from via Wikidata.
