What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
Hi there, not sure the best way/place to mention this but I think there might be a typo in the banner - "Contribute in Wikipedia Asian Month and get postcard!" seems to be missing an "a" between "get" and "postcard". Sorry if this should have been posted somewhere else!
Hi,
I have a question about this campaign. I see that you are targeting logged in and logged our users. In your list of participating countries you list English Wikipedia. Can you specify which countries you are targeting there? We run the annual English Wikipedia banner fundraising campaign throughout December in Australia, Canada (also on French Wikipedia there), Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, and the US (also on Spanish Wikipedia there) and non logged in readers will be seeing about 10 fundraising banners before they will see your banners. Dear @JBrungs (WMF), Thank you. This campaign is aimed at all contributors to the English Wikipedia, so it's not targeted at any specific country. If the banner appears after the fundraising banners, that's fine. Your kind reminder is appreciated. Betty2407 (talk) 00:13, 28 October 2025 (UTC)reply
Dear @User:DerHexer, As the WAM campaign is approaching, could you please let me know if any CN administrator will handle this request? Additionally, if there is anything I can improve in my application, please feel free to share your feedback, as this is my first time applying for it. Thank you for your understanding. Betty2407 (talk) 06:46, 31 October 2025 (UTC)reply
Hi, I have been on the road for the past two weeks. I will take a look at the requests this week, having set up most of them by Thursday at the latest. Any other CN admin can help here, of course. :) —DerHexer(Talk)18:47, 3 November 2025 (UTC)reply
@DerHexer: sorry for bothering - could you please reconfigure the Ukrainian banner? On Ukrainian Wikipedia we'll have the Asia Month from November 25th to December 25th, so this one is too early. And also we'll need the text changed (currently it's "Цей листопад — Місяць Азії у Вікіпедії
Беріть участь у конкурсі й отримуйте листівки з Азії."; should be "Триває Місяць Азії у Вікіпедії
Беріть участь у конкурсі й отримуйте книги про Азію.") Thanks! --AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 11:26, 8 November 2025 (UTC)reply
@AntonProtsiuk (WMUA): How should I have known this? ;) On Wikipedia Asian Month 2025/Join an Event there is no information on different dates for the Wikipedia Asian Month. Anyway, I have removed uk.wikipedia.org from the global campaign and changed the text. So either ping me around 25 November so that I can re-add it or ask for a separate campaign. Because in this global campaign, the dates are fixed and cannot be changed for individual languages/projects. Best, —DerHexer(Talk)11:32, 8 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Dear @AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) Apologies, I applied for the banner period from November 1 to December 31 for all languages, in order to align with the global framework. I believe you can adjust the content here.
@DerHexer: Sorry to bother you again. Would it be possible to add one more language: Gorontalo (gor)? I noticed that the organizers there have not added their page here, so it was missed from being displayed on CN. Thanks again. ···🌸Rachmat04·☕️13:32, 8 November 2025 (UTC)reply
The "Help with translations" link points to 2021 and should be updated to the current year to ensure translators work on the correct banner. --Saroj (talk) 18:06, 8 November 2025 (UTC)reply
I didn't know that, but yes, now I can confirm: с 1 по 30 ноября = from 1 to 30 November So this banner should be deleted from Russian Wikipedia now. Shabe (talk) 11:07, 5 December 2025 (UTC)reply
I have just removed Hungary and the Hungarian language as well, as the campaign ended on 30 November. Please let me know if you disagree or have any comments on this. Samat (talk) 15:09, 10 December 2025 (UTC)reply
@Betty2407: It's no fun to select 54 languages to the campaign and add 54 links to the banners (5 displays per month). ;D But I made it! You can find the campaign and banner (German preview example) there. Please help out with coording banner translations as soon as possible. I am not sure that all landing pages are fully ready yet, please also ensure that. Other than that the campaign is ready, waiting for your checks, approval and a ping for me so that I can enable the global campaign. Please note that if sub-campaigns need other means of banners, they have to request it separately. Best, —DerHexer(Talk)13:37, 7 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Dear @DerHexer, Appreciate the kind support and the hard efforts that you do for this WAM's request! I will reach out for the translation. Please enable the global campaign. Thank you. Betty2407 (talk) 09:11, 8 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Dear @DerHexer thank you very much for it, it was a huge work! And thank you @Betty2407 for this idea with global campaign banner.
However on Czech Wikipedia we use exact days in banner and we found yesterday there was the year 2020 - it was during our annual Wikiconference and there was not too much space think about it - only about the mistake, so the banner for the Czech Wikipedia was switched off yesterday, but we enlarged our own request for the Asian Month 2025 according the global campaign and duration of the Asian Month on Czech Wikipedia. Hope, it will be confirmed and put on as soon as possible. KKDAII (talk) 10:21, 9 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Hi @Betty2407, just a quick note so we can avoid this situation next year. This year, we had your global request for the campaign, but there were also separate local requests for cswiki and eswiki, both of which were already covered in your banner targeting those languages. It would be great to coordinate this in advance next time, so that local communities requesting their own banners don’t overlap with the global one. Thank you!--Soylacarli (talk) 14:26, 10 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Yep, can we have on cs.wiki the banner merged to the global one (just like the Spanish one) - except with the errorneous translation that was mentioning the "2020" year? Thanks. Aktron (talk) 21:26, 13 November 2025 (UTC)reply
@Aktron: There is no Czech translation for the current global banner (link). Maybe an old translation from the cloning of the banner is loading right now. Please add a Czech text and ping me so that I can publish it and override previous texts. Then I can add cswiki to the global campaign; meanwhile, I have already disabled that campaign. Best, —DerHexer(Talk)10:43, 21 November 2025 (UTC)reply
Currently the WMF fundraising banner campaign is also running and we are experiencing some problems with our data collection on the banners (Phab task). In order to figure out what is going on we will need to take the banners for the Wiki Asia Month out for logged out users. I hope this is ok and apologies for this. I will be in touch once we know for how long (hopefully not long) they will be down. Thank you so much for your understanding. Best JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 15:10, 2 December 2025 (UTC)reply
The campaign has been disabled per request of the main organizer. It's time for the lessons learned for this campaign, I'm happy to provide my feedback so that it will get easier next time for everyone. :) For me, it was fine, no worries. Best, —DerHexer(Talk)19:15, 11 December 2025 (UTC)reply
