CampaignEvents/Collaborative contributions/Testing Version 1
We have a very early testable first version of Collaborative Contributions. We now invite everyone to test out this early version on patchdemo and share their feedback in a survey!
How to test
[edit]How to test the participant side
[edit]- Go to the patchdemo link and create an account.
- Register for an event. You can register for this event, which will be open until January 2026, or any other event that is ongoing (i.e., it has started, but it has not yet finished).
- Now, edit a page. You can edit an existing page or you can create a new page. To edit an existing page, you can edit this page or any other page. Remember, this is a test wiki, so it is okay to edit and create new pages freely.
- After you save your edit, you will see a pop-up that asks if you want to associate the edit with the event. Select yes. If you are registered for multiple events, you will need to pick which events receives the event association.
- Go to the Contributions panel in EventDetails to review your changes. You will see a summary view at the top of the page, followed by a table view at the bottom. The table view lists all of the changes, including yours. New articles have a plus icon next to them. The table view has links to the article pages, editor user pages, and the diffs associated with the edits. If you do not see your changes, wait a few seconds and then refresh the page.

How to test the organizer side
[edit]- Go to the patchdemo link and create an account, if you have not already.
- Create an event page and choose to enable registration. All users have the event organizer right on the patchdemo link shared above.
- When you are enabling registration, select at least one Contribution event for event type (Editing event, Media upload event, Backlog drive, Contest). For target wikis, select either "All wikis" or add in a target wiki, which would be the patchdemo link that automatically populates when you add in a target wiki.
- You will see that "Show contribution statistics" is toggled on by default. Leave it toggled on.
- Enable registration.
- Collaborative contributions should now be enabled, and tracking will begin when the event begins.

What we plan to work on next
[edit]We want to fix some bugs with the first version on patchdemo, and then we want to release the feature to all wikis with the CampaignEvents extension. This will be an early version that people can start using in their events.
As for future improvements, we want to focus on allowing the editor and/or the organizer to add or remove edit associations next. This will be followed by other feature improvements, and we need your feedback to know what to work on next. Please fill out the survey to let us know how it can be improved!
Survey
[edit]We will have an open survey in LimeSurvey from September 23 to at least October 3 to see what people think of the feature and what suggestions they have for next steps. The survey is available in Arabic, English, French, Indonesian, and Spanish. If you have tested this feature or if you have attended a demo for this feature, we invite you to fill out the survey!
