Wikibase consists of two extensions:

Wikibase repository

Allows editing and storing of structured data. Wikidata is such a repository.

Wikibase Client

Can use and display data from a wikibase repository via Lua modules or parser functions. Other Wikis can be clients e.g. for using centralized language links or for article placeholders.
