Upgrade from 1.15 to latest version?

Hello,

I recently was asked to upgrade a version of MediaWiki 1.15 to the latest version, 1.35 at this time. Is this practical request and are there any links to documentation, articles, posts, or other suggested media that could be helpful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to accomplish this seemingly difficult manual task. Also, if this is not a practical goal that advice would also be considered with great appreciation.

Thank you very much,

Jamie

I would strongly suggest reading through all the 1.35 related topics here. Many wiki admins are reporting major problems with 1.35 that are as of yet still unresolved. There seems to be some unknown combination of webserver configuration that causes 1.35 to have either display problems and/or problems working with iOS 14.x devices. See Topic:Vwp6kb2w63zpuvud for many of the gory details.

Based on my experience and Version lifecycle I would upgrade to 1.31 (LTS) which is supported until June 2021. Hopefully the MediaWiki developers will have fixed the buggy 1.35 release by then. My wikis were very stable running 1.31 (LTS).
