Kabyle localization

[edit]

Hello,

We just finished the kab localization of Wikimedia Mobile Apps. Please would you consider it with the next release?

I'am seeing that the translations are not synched from translatewiki to https://github.com/wikimedia/wikipedia-ios/tree/a6b260c0c8f04118f0a82ee7862a207b81b825e1/Wikipedia/iOS%20Native%20Localizations

Still no Commons Uploader app for iOS ?

[edit]

I have to say that I don't really see the need for an App to read and edit Wikipedia as this is quite easily done in any browser.

But uploading several files, entering proper file names, descriptions and selecting categories is much more cumbersome on a mobile device without an app.

Doesn't anyone see the urgent need for an iOS uploader app?

What happened to the Uploader app from 2013?

The free Wiki Uploader app in the App Store is actually quite well designed but hasn't been updated since 2018 and has a few glitches which make it difficult to use in its current version.

Are there really no ressource to produce a proper iOS app or simply fix the Wiki Uploader app? Please? KaiKemmann (talk) 23:34, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @KaiKemmann,
As an answer to your question about what happened to the uploader app, please check the history section here.
And for suggesting the idea of a new iOS Commons app; this is a very good idea you can share via Talking:2024 or when the annual plan engagement starts.
Thank you. ARamadan-WMF (talk) 09:19, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I fully agree with @KaiKemmann. Photos are now mainly taken via smartphones. I don't understand why there is no iOS Commons app in the roadmap. Ayack (talk) 14:33, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

5,000 Saved Article Limit on IOS Mobile App

[edit]

I recently saved my 5,000th article on Wikipedia, and received a notification saying that I had saved the maximum amount of articles. Afterwards, I was still able to save new articles, but the number of articles that could be synced (5,000) was still the same. Is 5,000 the true limit? And if I save new articles now, will older, previously saved ones be deleted? ~2026-45224 (talk) 04:20, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello @~2026-45224,
Thank you for this detailed notice, when you reach 5,000 saved articles, the app shows a one-time warning.
If you continue saving articles after that:
  • New articles are still saved locally on your device.
  • Previously saved articles are not deleted.
  • Articles saved beyond 5,000 will not sync to your account, so they won’t be available on other devices.

QA

[edit]

Does the "QA" in "Exploratory QA" here stand for "question and answer"? @User:ARamadan-WMF I would like to get your help. Penyuwangi (talk) 22:17, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
