Project:Requests for permissions/JJDCT (2)

[edit]- Requested user-rights: Administrator and Translation administrator.

I'm running for Administrator because I want to voluntarily help the project with anti-vandalism, protection, and reverting edits, both on the original versions of articles and in the Spanish translation. I have the time and contact information available. While I'm not a developer and work with the MediaWiki software externally, I'd really like to help take care of this beautiful place for developers. As for Translation Administrator, I'd like to provide more extensive support in the Spanish translation of the most important documents and work with other Spanish-speaking translators to update articles. I remain at your service and at your discretion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JJDCT (talk • contribs) 00:35, 1 September 2025
Oppose both rights
- This request was malformed, unsigned and not transcluded properly. Why on earth should we trust you with advanced permissions if you can't even follow those basic conventions.
- You have no edits at all between a year ago and yesterday, and overall too little activity to qualify for advanced permissions IMO
- You have essentially no non-translation edits, and hence we have no basis to know whether you will be a good admin, or are familiar enough with the syntax to make a good translation admin.
- Any one of the above would be disqualifying for me. In addition to that, MediaWiki.org doesn't need more translation admins as the current setup, where Shirayuki does most of the work and ensures a consistent standard, is better than individual people marking things for translation in their own ad-hoc ways. * Pppery * it has begun 00:48, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if I misinterpreted an application instruction. I know I haven't edited the original pages of any MediaWiki articles, but that's because I know all the information is written by people very close to MediaWiki's development. I hope to improve and welcome feedback. I also apologize for the lack of a signature; I was a little emotional when writing. JJDCT (talk) 02:07, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Pppery: There's no guarantee Shirayuki will be active forever, so that is not a valid reason to oppose translation adminship for anyone else. I don't disagree on the other rationales, to be clear, and given the other opposes, have marked it as unsuccessful.--Jasper Deng (talk) 17:54, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
Oppose Too little (relevant) edit history for admin, and I just fixed two of your translation that omitted wikitext/vars, so not enthused by either requests either. --Clump (talk) 11:50, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for those mistakes, I'm trying to improve, and thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. JJDCT (talk) 02:41, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
Oppose per above Plutus (talk) 02:45, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
Not done for either. Sorry, but it doesn't look like the community approves of granting either right at this time.--Jasper Deng (talk) 17:54, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
