Fundraising
Who are we?
[edit]The Wikimedia Foundation Fundraising team cultivates the resources that propel our movement. We engage millions of people from countries across the globe to support Wikipedia and its sister projects. The overwhelming majority of the Foundation's funding comes from individual readers from all over the world giving an average of $11.
Donations help the Wikimedia Foundation maintain server infrastructure, improve the software that supports our projects, and make Wikipedia and its sister projects accessible globally to millions of people. For additional information, please see the 2024–2025 Fundraising Report.

2025/26 Q4 Update
[edit]We finished the financial year 2025/26 with reaching our revenue target and would like to thank everyone who made this possible, donors, volunteers, and Foundation staff.
In Q4, we ran fundraising campaigns in many countries across the globe, from Spain, to South Africa, Japan, and Malaysia. You can find all the relevant community collaboration pages above. We engaged our local communities beforehand, via the community collaboration pages.
We also prepared for the new financial year and started July off with updating the Fundraising Hub, a page we created on English Wikipedia as a more permanent home for engagement between the English Wikipedia community and the fundraising team.
I hope my modest contribution will help Wikipedia/Wikimedia continue its valuable existence and contribution to human intelligence. Although people seem to be focused on AI these days, human intelligence like yours is the basis of any AI activities. Without your knowledge, AI cannot implement their activities. (Donor from Japan).
We are looking forward to continuing engaging with several communities in Q1 of the new financial year.
2025/26 Q3 Update
[edit]During Q3 the fundraising team focused on finalising the Big English fundraising campaign through a Thank you email campaign and the campaign community recap. At the same time, the team started preparing for the international email campaigns that launched in late Q3 in Italy, Belgium, Spain, Austria, and The Netherlands, as well as the Italian banner campaign during March (community collaboration page).
Planning for Q4 is underway when many more international campaigns are taking place across the globe (see full calendar above).
