User:Pyt
Hello, I am Pyt.
I already started an enclopaedia as a child, reaching ABYSSINIA (complete with map!).
After having worked at my parents farm till my 19th, I changed over to electronics, which was already my hobby. My field generally concerned developing measurement equipment. Later on this brought me to semiconductor physics.
Parallel to that, I studied the Sater Frisian language "in the field" since 1955, which resulted in a dictionary and some articles and booklets. A much larger descriptive dictionary is still far from concluded. I am also interested in politics (o, facts and opinions!) and in all things that move mankind.
My native tongue is West-Frisian and I also speak fluently Dutch and Sater Frisian. I have a rather good knowledge of English and German. Knowledge of French and Stellingwervian (Dutch Low-Saxon) is moderate and that of Welsh is rather poor.
I like to participate in the Sater Frisian Wikipedia (still a Test-WP), as long as this does not take too much time. I am not unwilling to help contributors to other language projects, but that also should not become too time-comsuming.
I sincerely hope, the Sater Frisian test-WP can be transformed to a regular Wikipedia soon, so that we can get rid of English as a meta-language, because that language is a serious draw-back for some older potential contributors in Saterland. And to be honest, Wikipedia is still difficult enough without that for new contributors!
