Active involvement with the wikimedia community

[edit]

By adding high-quality images, videos, and audio files to Wikimedia Commons, refining existing Wikipedia articles, citing credible sources, and enriching article content with references, both new and experienced editors will be actively engaged in the Wikimedia community. Endorsement

[edit]

Highlighting Traditional Sports and showcasing Underrepresented Athletes on Wikimedia aims to inform Nigerian youths about the absence of some key sports and games content in the Wikimedia space. Having previously worked with the project lead on other Wikimedia projects, I can vouch for his proficiency in project management. I am confident he will successfully oversee the project, given his skills and experience. As a facilitator, I will offer hands-on guidance and support to both new and existing editors as they make significant contributions to the Wikimedia space. Increase Wikipedia’s reliability

[edit]

While some believe that Wikipedia has inherent flaws, this project aims to bridge the gap between sports and games to help participants grasp the importance of verifiability in Wikipedia articles. The targeted participants will learn how information is backed by trustworthy sources to substantiate claims made in articles. Taoheedah (talk) 16:53, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bridging Content Gaps

[edit]

The project will be bridging the knowledge and content gap surrounding Nigerian sports and athletes. Many traditional and emerging sports remain undocumented, depriving Nigeria's vibrant sports scene of visibility on platforms like Wikipedia. This project’s commitment to showcasing lesser-known sports, from Dambe to para-sports, is invaluable in ensuring that future generations understand and appreciate Nigeria's full athletic legacy. I look forward to seeing a more diverse and comprehensive portrayal of Nigeria's sports culture that reflects the country's unique identity.Ayyuha Sideeq (talk)

[edit]

Hello , thank you for submitting your Rapid Fund request.

We appreciate your willingness to contribute to the Wikimedia Movement. We have completed the initial review of your application and we decided to not fund it. We made this decision based on : the experience of the lead trainer in the key Wiki project participants will be trained on in this case English Wikipedia. While they have expereince in Wiki Data we find it important that there is robust experience in the other Wiki projects they would be guiding new and existing Wikimedians to contribute to.

An additional note is that we note the team involved in the project is also include as key leads in 2-3 other submissions in this funding cycle, resulting us to review on factors related to capacity.
