Pimpinellus is derived from Pimpinella, the herb Anise, which has the botanical name Pimpinella anisum. Its odor and taste remind one of Christmas, Anise cookies and home-made Anise candies as well as the the hot herbal tea, which is good for a sore throat.

Pimpinellus has been active his entire life, reading extensively, writing, making films, photographing, botanizing and globetrotting throughout the Northern Hemisphere. He is an enthusiastic supporter of the goal to collect knowledge about the world and make it easily accesable for everyone. He is a member of the WM-organisations which support free information in der Schweiz, in Österreich and in Deutschland.
