Verify you've met me?

Hey, I installed Wikibase from scratch during the wikimania hackathon and you helped me with the binary vs. utf-8 collation issue. Maybe you could verify you've met me at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:PB/A :) Dan scott (talk) 18:31, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help design a new feature to stop harassing emails

Hi there,

The Anti-Harassment Tools team plans to start develop of a new feature to allow users to restrict emails from new accounts. This feature will allow an individual user to stop harassing emails from coming through the Special:EmailUser system from abusive sockpuppeting accounts.

We’re inviting you to join the discussion because you have experience dealing with abusive sockpuppeting accounts and you work across many wikis. We think that your insights will help us build a better feature.

You can leave comments on this discussion page or send an email to the Anti-Harassment Tools team.

It is important to hear from a broad range of people who are interested in the design of the tool, so we hope you join the discussion and let us know how it would work best for you.

Better hashing alhorithm for unique reference names

Hi, we've been implementing the functionality mentioned in this task description, namely generating unique reference names for references created from Wikidata (and solving some adjacent problems), in ruwiki (after T175725: Deploy HTML5 sections to WMF production was done for ruwiki and some things broke). Do you have any thoughts on which algorithm is better suited for generating hash values for references? I've done my modest research and stopped at fnv164 as it is fast, and 64-bit hash reduces collision probability to a negligibly small value. But maybe I am missing something.

The choice hash_algos() gives is the following:

"adler32", "crc32", "crc32b", "fnv132", "fnv164", "fnv1a32", "fnv1a64", "gost", "haval128,3", "haval128,4", "haval128,5", "haval160,3", "haval160,4", "haval160,5", "haval192,3", "haval192,4", "haval192,5", "haval224,3", "haval224,4", "haval224,5", "haval256,3", "haval256,4", "haval256,5", "joaat", "md2", "md4", "md5", "ripemd128", "ripemd160", "ripemd256", "ripemd320", "sha1", "sha224", "sha256", "sha3-224", "sha3-256", "sha3-384", "sha3-512", "sha384", "sha512", "snefru", "tiger128,3", "tiger128,4", "tiger160,3", "tiger160,4", "tiger192,3", "tiger192,4", "whirlpool"

Thanks in advance. If you cannot answer, but you know somebody who can, please tell. Jack who built the house (talk) 03:09, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Account renamed

Hi, Hoo man. I came to rename an account with 50k edits, by mistake. I realized that this account has more than 50k edits after accepting the change. I know that our policy says that "accounts with more than 50,000 edits altogether should not be performed [without supervision of a sysadmin]. Can you see if all is right, please? I'm sorry if something is wrong, and my apologies for it. Jmvkrecords (Intra talk) 16:47, 23 November 2017 (UTC).Reply
