Hi, I'm Rampion
I mostly active in the Russian Wikipedia, where I've been around since 2009. I hold administrator rights there and have served twice on the Arbitration Committee (36th and 39th).
On other projects I'm mostly a reader and an occasional editor, so my activity here is limited.
Outside Wikipedia, I work in tech. Originally from Russia, I left the country since invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and have been living nomadically since.
The sum of human knowing is beyond any one man; any thousand men.
— Isaac Asimov, Foundation
Tenets
- Facts over opinions. Swap evaluative epithets in articles for objective information backed by reliable sources.
- Write simply. Cut jargon and bureaucratese.
- Focus on the reader. Wikipedia is for them.
- Don't be afraid of mistakes. Admit them, fix them, move on.
- Don't nitpick or file complaints on noticeboards. Don't run to WP:ANI over every dispute.
- Settle disagreements through personal discussion. People are usually open to it if you actually listen.
- Don't jump to conclusions. Keep asking questions until you understand.
- Don't overuse policy shortcuts (WP:NPA, WP:AGF and the like) in discussions. Spell things out in plain language.
- Don't be lazy about explaining. A terse policy link or a template warning rarely does the job.
- Be friendly. Assume good faith in others.
- Don't forget the human behind the username. We're all people first — with lives, moods, and limits — and editors second.
- Thank people. Praise the work of fellow editors.
- Take care of yourself and your mental state.
- Let every edit make Wikipedia a little better — and a little friendlier.
