Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2014

Schedule

Some details about the rooms at the venue.

Common sessions will take place at the Main hall. You can enter the Main hall from first and third floors.
Parallel sessions "A" will take place at the room # 309 at the third floor.
Parallel sessions "B" will take place at the room # 1008 at the tenth floor. There're four elevators.
Coffee breaks will take place at the room # 304 at the third floor.
Organizational team's room is situated at the room # 302 at the third floor.
Cloakrooms is situated at the first floor, near the Main hall.
Water closets (toilets) for females are available at all floors, except seventh and tenth.
Water closets (toilets) for males are available at the first, seventh and tenth floors.

1 State of the Movement

GOAL: Let representatives from other states present state of their chapters or groups and help others be informed about successful projects or needs of other countries.

2a Freedom of panorama

GOAL: Learn from the experience of Wikimedia Armenia who achieved legalisation of Freedom of Panorama in Armenia by direct lobbying. As many CEE states still have no freedom of panorama, other Wikimedians will learn how they can help in their countries.

2b Wikiexpeditions

GOAL: Learn about successful Wikiexpeditions project which is important in generating content about particular cities, villages or regions. Polish chapter who created this project and is leading in it, as well as representatives from Czech Rep. and Ukraine will share their lessons and experience.

3a Cross-border initiatives

3b Hiring staff

GOAL: Help organizations clarify how to (or whether to) hire staff, and to work effectively between volunteers and staff if this is the right option for you. 4a WikiCamp

GOAL: WikiCamp project realised by Wikimedia Armenia was recognized as the coolest project of the year at Wikimania 2014. At this session Armenians will share their experience about this project and how one can organise such kind of events. Similar project was realised in Hungary and Serbia, and representatives of these chapters may also share their expereince.

5 Education program

GOAL: The Wikipedia Education Program is one of the most quickly developing projects in our communities. Undoubtedly, engaging students to participate in improving Wikipedia not only helps improve Wikipedia in the first place, but also educates more people about it: the way it works, how to properly use it, how to make it better. In some states, children and elderly people are also participating in Education Programs, so such experience is interesting too. This panel will present many successful models from different countries that can be used to design or reimagine education programmes in the region.

5a Common legal threats + AWB

GOAL: We have inherited similar bureaucratic way of thinking by authorities after Soviet era; this lead to similar legal threats such as problems with fund-rising campaigns, responsibility for content, domain registration, over-control by government etc. Would be good to share the common experience regarding these issues and how we can help each other.

9a Gender gap

GOAL: Address all the ways in which the gender gap affects the position of women on Wikipedia, and their absence from it, as article subjects, editors, and readers. Issues include editor interaction, the way policies and guidelines are written, our dispute-resolution processes, the way admins are elected, notability guidelines, which articles are created and deleted, and how articles are sourced.
