Revision as of 12:48, 27 March 2007 by Sajad (talk | contribs) (+fa interwiki)

Wikiquote is a free compendium of quotations that is being written collaboratively by the readers, run by the Florida based non-profit organization Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. The site is a WikiWiki, meaning that anyone, including you, can edit any entry right now by clicking on the edit this page link that appears in every Wikiquote entry. The project was started on June 27, 2003. There are 68,811 articles in the English language Wikiquote that are being worked on, and versions of Wikiquote in other languages are being developed. Every day many contributors from around the world can make hundreds of edits and create many new articles.

All of the site's content created by Wikiquote editors is covered by the GNU Free Documentation License. Contributions remain the property of their creators, while the copyleft licensing ensures that the content will always remain freely distributable and reproducible. Some quotation content may be copyrighted or in the public domain depending where it was taken from. See copyrights for more information.

More about Wikiquote

It would seem almost strange that anyone can edit anything, because there's always the potential of reckless "spammers", or annoying "deleters", yet the integrity of Wiki seems to remain.
