The Wikimedia Developer Summit consists of
- two days of sessions organized in a pre-scheduled Program and an Unconference -- see Call for participation.
- a totally unscheduled third day for hacking, meeting, and conversations.
The spaces available are described in the Golden Gate Club website (a more detailed description will be posted here soon).
The discussion starts online months before, as proposals for topics are being submitted and discussed at the #wikidev17 project in Wikimedia Phabricator. We strive to make remote online participation during the event as productive as possible.
The main topics (but not the only ones) selected for this edition are:
- A plan for the Community Wishlist 2016 top results
- Handling wiki content beyond plaintext
- A unified vision for editorial collaboration
- Building a sustainable user experience together
- Building on Wikimedia services: APIs and Developer Resources
- How to manage our technical debt
- Artificial Intelligence to build and navigate content
- How to grow our technical community
Schedule
Monday and Tuesday, January 9 & 10
Two full days of discussion sessions. Some sessions will be scheduled in advance and there will be room for un-conference sessions as well.

Unscheduled discussion, social & hackathon day
Location: Gold Gate Club, Presido, San Francisco, USA
Participants will have access to food, drinks, wifi & breakouts spaces and can use their time as they see fit.
