Aagam

  • Aagam - The complete literature of Jainism, consisting/covering knowledge of each and every subject on matter, object, philosophy, logic, and many various fields. They are completed in 12 sections.

Purva

  • Purva - Purva, is the part of 12th section of Aagam(Ang), known as Drashtivad Ang. It has 14 branch of knowlede, which are covered in greater depth and in wider breadth. First [Purva] of Drashtivad Ang, is said to be so vast in volume of knowledge, that if written, it would take dry ink in amount, which is equal to the weight of 1 adult elephant. Second Purva is said to be twice the breadthness and depthness of First Purva, hence if written, it would take dry ink in amount, which is equal to the weight of 2 adult elephants. As the Purva keeps on increasing, so do their vastness keeps on increasing by twice the amount of its predecessor. The last Fourteenth Purva, is so vast in depth and breadth, that it would take the dry ink in amount equal to the weight of 8192 adult elephants.
