This page collects requests for deleting specific articles from Wikisource. If you want a page deleted for copyright reasons please list it at Wikisource:Possible copyright violations. If you think a page should be deleted for any other reason, please list it here so it can be discussed. Articles remaining on this page should be deleted if there is no significant opposition.

- British locations - do we really need this kind of material on Wikisource? It's really pointless and would belong somewhere on a different project. Zhaladshar June 29, 2005 19:54 (UTC)
- Keep. That Geographic Locations List is valuable information especially for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Geographical_coordinates#Examples .
- I guess it was moved from an Wikipedia article to Wikisources. Unless you can find 2 reliable Public Domain Webpages wit the same Data, i would request to keep it here. It is better to have Data here than on Wikibooks. Finally I encourage you to take part in Geotagging Wikipedia by following the advice in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Geographical_coordinates#Implementation_details . You can start to insert the British locations now :-) --Mononoke 6 July 2005 05:45 (UTC)
- Move to Wikicommons and delete from Wikisource. No matter how useful this is, it's not original source material. CSN 02:25, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- It seems to me that this is encyclopedic and should be in en:wikipedia as so I have begun the transwiki process: one section a time. This will take a while. I have moved two sections and wait to see if the WP deletionists will accept the presence of the list. —Theo (Talk) 15:29, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
- The transwiki is now complete and several people are working on refining the data. I am also trying to establish the license under which the file was uploaded. Either way, this material is no longer needed here and the file can be deleted. —Theo (Talk) 14:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

- Pi to 1,000,000 places and Pi to 10,000 places... They were just deleted but popped back up. Perhaps these pages need notes. CSN 18:42, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- Deleted again....you're welcome to make some kind of note on the deleted "Pi to X" pages. --Christian S 18:53, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- Similar to the Pi related stuff Category:Square numbers and all assoiated pages, Square root of 5 to 10,000 places, Square root of 2 to 10,000 places, Category:Pi, Number:φ, Number:e and all associated pages. --CSN 22:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- The rest of Wikisource:Mathematics --CSN 22:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

- Wikisource:Source code. The content of this page doesn't match Wikisource requirements: prior publication and free licence. Either this code is new or is copyrighted. Yann 16:48, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
- Transwiki:99 Bottles of Beer computer program
- Disagree - Valueable collection for example as quick comparison of languages; also (at least some) sources are'n copyrighted: Tiny Encryption Algorithm

- Note that there isn't an issue to answer. Your statement of what Wikisource requirements are is wrong, and is flatly contradicted by an explicit statement on Wikisource:What is Wikisource? saying that GFDL and public domain source code is included on Wikisource. - Agree - If the code wasn't published in a specific work that is included on this site, it doesn't belong here. --CSN 01:20, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
- Agree - But don't delete, put it in Wikibooks instead. --Kwhitefoot 11:20, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
- Wikibooks doesn't take source code. It directs editors to here as the repository for that. Uncle G 15:53, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Source code has always belonged here (It has been listed as one of the things that Wikisource explicitly includes since 2004.), and Wikisource and Wikipedia have for a long time been operating in concert in this regard. There are a number of Wikipedia articles on computer algorithms that link to Wikisource for the source code for those algorithms in various languages. Deleting this would be pointless destruction of the good work using both projects for what they do best that has been built up so far over a number of years, and would be throwing a huge spanner in the works. Also note that the claim that the code is copyrighted is, whilst correct, entirely misleading. Yann is wrong. The code that is here is copyrighted, but copyright licenced under the GFDL. See the notices in Flood fill, for example. Uncle G 15:53, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Anyway many (all ?) source code pages were moved to en.wikisource, and people there also think that Wikibooks is a better place. See CSN answer to your post, I agree 100% with him. Nothing is eternal, and Source code has always belonged here is not a good argument. Yann 18:12, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

- That material has been moved to s:en:Wikisource talk:What Wikisource includes. —Theo (Talk) 23:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- On a related note, Bubble sort has been changed to be simply a wikilink to the en:Wikisource. So, we have some source code here and some on en: with no clear crieria for such division. The options appear to be here, en:wikisource or en:wikibooks. Furthermore, it seems to me that the resolution to this is for one project to say, "we are the source code repository" rather than keep moving the material around until it sticks. In my opinion, this is the most appropriate home for source code: the name wikisource implies a source code repository and programming languages are not forms of English so the mutilingual project seems most apt. —Theo (Talk) 23:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
